www.laurelmountainpress.com/Site%202/Raisen.html"Raisen" This book was written by Hoke, who I grew up with here in a tiny town called Tiger in northeast Georgia... It was published locally so you won't find it in any big book stores .... I told Jackie she needs to put a few on ebay or check into getting it listed at Amazon... Hoke is good christian man and this book is bringing back lots of memories as I read it..... He signed mine yesterday at the Mountaineer Festival and gave me a hug..... It is a really good book! #bfantastic1wp7ct-1#

Fixing to start "Save Me From Myself" by Brian 'Head' Welch... the former lead guitarist from the rock band Korn..... He was saved by Jesus Christ in front of 10,000 concert goers and this is his memoir and his inside story to the rock star lifestyle... will let you all know how I liked it... #sillyface-1# I finished this one in record time sorry it took me a few days to post again (life gets in the way sometimes).... It is a really awesome testimony from Brian about his days with the band Korn.... How God used many different things to bring him to where he is today.. About his love for his daughter and how she fit into the plan God has for him.... a definite A+ and I thank my 21 year old son for the recommendation.... Can't wait to read this one! But I have 2 ahead of it......Spending too much time on forums.....

I am currently reading The Shack, and wow, I can't put it down either and it has made me really think, and try to adjust some things in my life. Before this I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, by the same author of the Kite Runner, I have had it sitting here for about a year, was planning to read it after I read the Kite Runner and just didn't pick it up. It is soooo sad, but it is one of those books that when you get to the end you are so glad you read it. It sure makes you appreciate what we have too............Sher

I know what you all mean about the book store being a dangerous place, we don't have Barnes and Noble near us in Canada, but we have Chapters/Indigo, I can guarantee to drop $100 easily every time I go in there, and it is just down the street so I have to be careful. I am a huge reader and I start to have an anxiety attack when I don't have at least three books waiting to be read because I read them so quickly.
I also love Luanne Rice, her books are so beautiful and full of family love, and the ties that bind them. Really beautiful writer if anyone is interested.

Sher, you are like me. I was told the book was so awesome and people loved the Italy part but I was like not really turned on to it. But India and Indonesia WOW. I was fascinated. It helped that I have always had a gypsy spirit and would love to have the finances and type of job that would enable me to just take off and live in various parts of the world whenever I had the whim.
I have always been very interested in meditation and man would I love to learn how to quiet my forever racing mind.

Wow are we ever, my Mom had read the book first and her favorite part was Italy, I couldn't get into it. I was so glad when I continued to read. I have always been fascinated by meditation too and have never been able to quite grasp it, I end up falling asleep or I can't get my mind to stop running all over the place. But all this stuff fascinates me and I have always had a gypsy kind of spirit too, I always thought if I had the money that is what I would like to do. Funny. I would love to be able to travel and learn about the people and their history and beliefs, this always fascinates me.

I think Eat, Pray, Love is one of the best books I have ever read. It would be a dream come true to be able to spend a year traveling and just getting your head and heart together.
And Sher, I also love Luanne Rice. I have read all of her books. I have to say though, her latest, Last Kiss, was not one of my favorites. My fav by her is Beach Girls.
Recently I have read The Alchemist, The Shack, and The Kite Runner. (yes, I am stalking Jason through his reading!) All three were excellent books. (Thanks Jason!)
Right now I am reading Off Season by Anne Rivers Siddons. I love Southern writers.

I just finished Eat, Love Pray and it is an awesome book. I couldn't put it down. Anyone else read Eat, Pray, Love? Altrock4u - I read it awhile ago...and blogged about it on my myspace. Did you happen to catch Elizabeth Gilbert on Oprah? Actually, it was awhile ago. She is delightful in person and speaks just as she writes! Italy is one of my favorite countries and her experiences there were so funny and wonderful, also I've always wanted to go to Bali...and that's where she found Philipe!!!!!!! I have her book, "Stern Men" and am having a difficult time getting into it...so it is in my pile of ...at some point I'll be ready for it! Ha! So...my current read is "Dream Brother" (The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley) as recommended by McLovin on the Jeff Buckley thread. I am engrossed in it and just put it down after a day and a half of reading and listening to Buckley music! He went from us all too soon.

just finished reading The Catcher in the Rye, haha that book is funny and sweet. "That killed me." LOL that's like my favorite book. I read it my Sophomore yr. in H.S. (I'm now a Senior)--I want to read it again so bad.. It was one of those books that you just like, and can't explain why. (for me anyway)

Ugh currently my reading revolves around Law school textbook and Missouri case law. I'm hoping to get my time better under control and devote some time to reading for pleasure. Thinking of the Alchemist if I don't pick up one of the Harry Potter books to read for the upteenth time!

Hmm... not really reading anything right now except for college. I just read the epic of Giglamesh this week. I really want to get the Kite Runner though since everyone says it's so good. What's Blue Water about? Kite Runner is amazing!!! I didnt like the movie though. If you do get around to reading the Kite Runner...you should read A thousand splendid suns (its by the same author).

i just finished lord of the flies not too long ago and i really liked it! i just started the great gatsby today, because the library was out of the kite runner and i just had the great gatsby lying around the house. I thouhgt Lord of the Flies was okay....maybe if I didnt have to read it for school it would have been better. i feel when i have to do work with a book i dont really enjoy reading it. The only school book I really enjoyed was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time ...It was a great read...and the assignment we did with it was a fun and creative one!
