Hmm... not really reading anything right now except for college. I just read the epic of Giglamesh this week. I really want to get the Kite Runner though since everyone says it's so good. What's Blue Water about?

I just started reading the book "Riding the bus with my sister" by Rachel Simon, which I found at the library the other day. I have only just started, but I can already say that I'm gonna like this one.

I am currently reading "Closer Than Your Skin" by Susan D. Hill (I heard about a Women's Christian reading group that was using this book as a guide.)
And "Open House" by Elizabeth Berg (One of Oprah's Book Club selections)
Both are interesting reads.
Recently re-read, "Stand Like Mountain Flow Like Water" by Brian Luke Seaward (Reflections on Stress and Human Spirituality) It has great breathing exercises and meditations.

I read Lord of the Flies in high school, 12th grade I think, and I liked it too.
Now I'm reading The Kite Runner, very close to the end. It's hard to put down, despite how depressing it is. Next on my list will be The Alchemist.

I just finished The Lovely Bones - really good, but very sad before that I was rereading The Moonstone - which is considered the first English language detective novel. It's very long, but pretty cool

I just finished The Lovely Bones - really good, but very sad I started reading The Lovely Bones earlier this year, but it was a bit odd for my tastes and I stopped reading it just a couple chapters in. Should I have continued with it? I am currently re-reading the seventh Harry Potter book for about the third or fourth time. #giggle# The last book I read was The Welsh Girl, by Peter Ho Davies, which was probably different from the style of book I normally read. It takes place in WWII follows the lives of three very different characters: a seventeen year old Welsh barmaid and farmer's daughter, a German prisoner of war, and a German-Jew who has become an interogator in the British army. It has a bit of romance, but also makes you think about important themes of national identity and honor, and gives readers an incredible glimpse into the Welsh culture and landscape during this time period. It doesn't have a lot of action, but it's a pretty good story about imperfect characters.

i just finished the kite runner (awesome book!) and i'm about to start The Richest Man in Babylon, i'm in the bookworms thread at ddb. but on 9/20 the third book in the Inheritance series (Eragon is the first book, you may have seen the movie, book is a million times better) anyway as soon as that comes out i will be reading it. The series is AMAZING a lot like Lord of the Rings if you like that. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves fantasy books. It's in the young adult category i think but I'm 26 and my husband is 30 and we both love it.

Today I was chatting with my neighbor, Rachel who is a high school English teacher. Our conversation runs the gambit, and usually includes what she is reading. Today she mentioned she just finished "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. It's the first book her students will be reading this year.
She said she had never read it and found it very interestingly relevant and connected to issues we have in our society today.
Has anyone read "Frankenstein?" Just wonderin' what you think. I might give it a shot. #thscratch#

I'm reading a novel "This Present Darkness" by Frank E. Peretti
It was a best seller a number of years ago and I picked it up again when I ran out the door and grabbed something to read while getting my car fixed. It takes place in a college town and is written on several levels. I love this book.

Right now I'm reading Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. It's kinda CSI set in the 12th century.
