In a round about way it has, I mean when you go through something like that you feel really alone, and at fault. Even though you aren't alone and no way is it your fault, and that is something hard to realize.

Aww, that's terrible. Thanks for posting that quote from Jason. I've never experienced this and hope I never will. Sorry for Jason and those of you who did.

I also would love to hear a studio version, while it is sad it's also a wonderful reminder to treat your loved ones with respect everyday and choose your words carefully. I think there's a beautiful moral to this song.

This song is very touching and is very personal to me also. The first time I heard it was not long after my brother passed away.
It's very hard not to think that there was something you could have done. When you are there for them and they shut you out and act like nothing is wrong, it makes you think why? I have a lot of unanswered questions myself, that I will never know and that's the hardest thing to deal with. Some people hide their feelings from the world and never let it show, their pride inside shines til the end, leaving everyone in the dark. He gave us closure with a letter which was very comforting. This will leave a scar forever in my heart.

My favorite song of his....I can relate to it big time. Having someone close to you commit suicide is the hardest thing anyone could ever have to deal with. dani, i am so sorry you had to deal with this also. i lost a close friend to suicide and it is definitely hard. i connect with this song too, for that reason. it makes me very sad to know that Jason (and you) know how I feel.

Ash, I'm sorry that you can relate to the song under the circumstances. It is hard, really hard to deal with. Sometimes though knowing people who know how you feel is a good way to help heal.

I agree with u'all...the first time I heard it I cried aswell and you could just tell it was written through experience. It's a very powerful song and it inspires one to reflect on how we treat others because we never know what is going through anothers mind.

So Fast has always been my favorite original song of Jason's. It is hauntingly beautiful and I agree with those who say it shows Jason's depth. My one son is a sophomore in high school, and 1 week before school started this year, and honor student/quarterback of their football team committed suicide in the same way. Jason's song "So fast" then took on a whole new meaning for me and I just bawled my eyes out for the kid's family and his friends at school that would obviously be asking themselves how this could have happened to someone who had so much going for him.

The melody and lyrics of this song are so beautiful. It showcases Jason's amazing potential, and was written at such a young age.

i agree w/ y'all about this song being hauntingly beautiful; that's the way i've always described it as well. the first time i heard it i could tell it was written about someone he personally knew committing suicide.. i've been fortunate to have never experienced that but i can feel the pain through the music. he really knows how to put his feelings and emotions into his songs. i would love to hear a studio recording of this and i think it would make a great addition to his cd. it proves that he is capable of writing very deep and meaningful songs, not just the lovey dovey ones.

I never thought in a million years something like this would ever happen. Jason and his music has helped me get through this tough time.

I fortunately never knew anyone that committed suicide that was close to me, I knew a friend of a friend that did. However, this song reminds me of a girl I went to high school with and she was psychologically troubled so when I hear it I think about her and hope that she is getting help. This song proved two things: 1) that not only is Jason a deep thinker he is a deep feeler to and the listener can only imagine how one feels after a situation like that 2) that he can write songs that are not love songs.

Unfortunately, I do know the feeling from experience. The first time I heard So Fast, it gave me chills. Shortly followed by tears, Jason really puts a lot of real, true, raw emotion into the song and its felt big time. I know how you feel too. I'm sorry you've been affected in this way because it changes you forever. It's been four years since it happened in my life and I'm still not over it. This song really speaks to me and Jason Castro is a genius. I just read the other posts from the others here that also "know" about this. I'm sorry for all of you that know this firsthand. It's really one of the hardest things.

I remember youtubing Jason's original songs ages ago and coming across "So Fast", not expecting to hear what I did. I got goosebumps on my arms, chills down my back & the hair's on my neck literally stood up. It was just so haunting. Then, after finding out the personal story behind the song and listening to it again, I totally teared up - I'm not brought to tears easily. Well now, I can't bloody listen to it without my mind wandering and my eyes filling up. And yet, while the song is full of sad emotion, by the end of it, I almost feel healed. He does have such a musical gift.
His singing and lyrics are straight from the heart. I love that.

I just want to add that this is my favorite to date of Jason's original songs.
It touched a part of me that I buried. Suicide is horrible and those who live on deal with many feelings and thoughts.
The words and the melody to this song are very haunting and yet soothing. Not two words I would have thought of putting together and it's hard to explain but this song touched my emotions in a sad way because it reminded me of a very dear person....and yet it touched me in a healing way to know that others can relate.

Very good song. I think this song, plus him singing Crazy @ the Prophet Bar, were like the 2 non-Idol performances that said to me, "Ok, that's it, this guy is good." No offense to the lovers of the yucky love stuff... I just can only take so much of that before I get a cavity, haha. It's nice to have a balance of material, and it's wonderful to see how much emotion he can put into a song like that. I feel fortunate that no one I am close to has ever committed suicide. Just knowing others who have had a loved one do it is enough to make me feel blessed and to appreciate everyone I have in my life.
