I guess if he reads this thread, he'll know he has at least one sure-fire hit if he records it for his album. I'm pleased to know Mr. Cohen liked his version. Getting respect from a musical legend means more than what someone like Randy Jackson thinks.....

i'm also DYING to hear a full-length studio version of this song.. it would be just INCREDIBLE! maybe someone in the castro camp will see how much we're all wanting to buy this song. i agree that it would make an excellent bonus track on his first cd. just imagine how many more records he'd sell because of it! even the people who saw his performance and loved it, but weren't planning on buying his cd would probably purchase it just b/c this song was on it!
it could also increase fan club membership if offered as an exclusive download. i'm in the hanson fan club and they offer exclusive downloads all the time. it really makes being a member even more appealing.

I like every one else hope that it will be able to buy and can't wait for the day. It would make me very happy because that is the one song that I really wanted to have a studio recording of during Idol. Plus I just love how he sang and got into it in the 1:30 version I can only imagine how the full length/studio would sound.
Like posinivy said having an exclusive download for fan club membership might be a very good idea.

I sort of hope this particular song isn't released exclusively as a fan club only purchase, yes, it most probably would increase membership uptake, but at the same time, if it's only available via the fanclub, that will limit the potential sales. Unfortunately the recording Jason did for the movie is THEIR property, so he cannot use that as a release. However, if they release a soundtrack I'm sure it will be on there. He will have to record another session if he wants to include it on his own release. I just hope he does that as it is my most favorite song ever. c If the version he did for the movie is their property how much would Jason get from the sales and since he was still under AI contract are they in on the profits too. Just want to make sure Jason gets his fair share. Possibly not a great deal, he may have received a one off/signed off recording fee for the film version, or he may receive performance royalities, so the more popular it is/more plays it gets, the more he receives. It's the song-writer that benefits most of all financially, directly anyway. Indirectly, if the song/sound track does well, it's still of great benefit in terms of kudos to Jason and the knock-on effect of that again, just as this sprang from his cover on AI, other things may spring from the film recording if it does well and so on ... I had wondered if there may be some restrictions on Jason releasing a different version himself, prior to the film and if the film version will be in Spanish. I'm happy to wait for it until the film or soundtrack is released - then I will want to download a copy of that; and if it's in Spanish, I want another version in English too please  |

Yeah, I heard that for itunes just the last note was fixed also, and I loved his last little crackly note. OMG I'm so hoping it's the full version he recorded for the movie. Can you imagine how gorgeous? He did it in English right? Daydreamer21, I love your quote in your signature! !) I also love the way Jason's voice cracked at the end of the song... so emotive1 Who's idea was it to "fix" it? BOO! 2) Whats the film everyone keeps mentioning? |

yep, he recorded it.. we're all just worried that it still may not be the whole version or that a soundtrack isn't released for the movie.. it's also a mexican film so we don't know which language it will be in... i hope we get some more details soon! Didn't Betsy say there was going to be a soundtrack when she called in to the live feed? I could be wrong, but I thought she did! It seems only logical that it would be on a soundtrack of some sort. To me it didn't matter if he sang it in English or Spanish because I'm sure the same emotion would be in both of them. I would be very proud if he did it in Spanish but having an English version of Hallelujuah which I would understand what he is saying isn't to bad either. It's win win.
