Didn't Betsy say there was going to be a soundtrack when she called in to the live feed? I could be wrong, but I thought she did! I can't remember if she said there would be a soundtrack, but for all of you wondering, she said it was sung in English not Spanish. ahh thanks for the info! i must have missed that feed! i was hoping for english so i could understand the words.. but i agree a spanish version would also be HAWT!!! would it be too much to ask for both? lol and how bout a french version too?? haha i could half-way understand that since i took several years of it in school

how do you say hallelujah in spanish? that would be really cool, The word Hallelujah is the same in every language other than a slight accent. So in Spanish hallelujah sounds more like Allelu-jah but it's the same. Cool huh?

i played a few different versions of hallelujah on my ipod when i was in the car with my mom and asked her if she liked them and she said "nope, put on jason's version now!" haha. but then she mentioned how she wishes that his version was longer so i told her about the recording for the movie and she got all excited.

Don't throw rocks at me - and I thought Jason's rendition of Hallelujah on AI was wonderful, but in that it showed depth and maturity that really woke me up and made me take notice.
On the other hand, Hallelujah has been DONE. Sometimes things (like the Jeff Buckley version) really are PERFECT. If Jason is going to change it up do something different, more power to him - but just to re-record the Jeff Buckley arrangement doesn't "advance" Jason. I'd much rather see him do his own music or cover a song that is not already a masterpiece.
The exception being the movie soundtrack, where for obvious reasons the producers chose not to use the Buckley version (does Jason sing it in Spanish?), then in that case, Jason was certainly the logical choice.

I see your point, but the selfish obsessed fan in me still wants it because it would be beautiful. Buckleys version always was my favorite, and he's amazing singing it. But Jason has that emotion in his voice......ahhhh I just want to hear it. I am fine with getting it on a movie soundtrack so long as there is one for sale, doesnt have to be on HIS album.

It doesn't have to be on his album, but I would like to get it from the soundtrack, even if it's only available online.

and call me "crazy" but i listened to both Jeff Buckley's version and Jason's back to back today... and in all honesty i like jason's better... maybe b/c i had never heard Jeff Buckley's.. or the song before jason.. but it's jason's version that gets me...
i love jason covering jeff buckley's version.. and that's the way i'd like to hear it in full length.

^^^^THIS. I'm a longtime fan of Jeff Buckley, and his songs have a haunting quality. Jasons version feels powerfully emotional but touches a different part of me and I find it incredibly moving. MUST HAVE FULL VERSION.

Anyone listen to Kady Malloy singing Hallelujah on her myspace page? I just happened to come across it and was wondering why in the world she would sing that song knowing that Jason is known for it? It's not good.

Did she really? Anyone who sings that song now on Idol would be a fool....or really anyone trying to cover it at this point, IMO.

i love jason covering jeff buckley's version.. and that's the way i'd like to hear it in full length.I agree with this. Nothing against Buckley's version. It's beautiful...and kind of haunting...I really love it. BUT Jason's version is the best imo...I could listen to it over and over again and never grow tired of it. I can't do that with Buckley's version. And, on the contrary, I think that releasing a full length version of Hallelujah would be brilliant. It's been done, true....but this song is not something you hear on mainstream radio (at least not around here). Before Jason performed it on AI, many people had never heard it. I think he could even win over some non-idol fans with it. Regardless...I still want to buy it, so I just hope it goes to iTunes. If nothing else, I need it on my iPod.
