Don't throw rocks at me - and I thought Jason's rendition of Hallelujah on AI was wonderful, but in that it showed depth and maturity that really woke me up and made me take notice. On the other hand, Hallelujah has been DONE. Sometimes things (like the Jeff Buckley version) really are PERFECT. If Jason is going to change it up do something different, more power to him - but just to re-record the Jeff Buckley arrangement doesn't "advance" Jason. I'd much rather see him do his own music or cover a song that is not already a masterpiece. The exception being the movie soundtrack, where for obvious reasons the producers chose not to use the Buckley version (does Jason sing it in Spanish?), then in that case, Jason was certainly the logical choice. <ducking and running> #watchit# Yeah, You bettah run! he he Okay, I'm gonna try to forget you said all that. I hadn't heard Jeff Buckley's version b4 I heard Jason's. I bought Buckley's after Jason sang it. I like it okay but I actually skip over it most of the time. It doesn't compare to Jason's to me. Jason's is the masterpiece to me. Maybe the Buckley fans would disagree but I'm definitely a fan of Jason's music. I like his Crazy better than Ray L's, his Badfish better than Sublime's (and I really like theirs), Over the Rainbow better than brotha Iz's (and I love his) etc. etc. Point I'm trying to make is even though Jason may have covered someones arrangement it's not like it's an exact replica of that arrangement. His songs are always uniquely Jason. Hallelujah was never DONE the way Jason did it! And it wasn't PERFECT until he did it! #ranting2# So that's just my opinion vs. your opinion but mine's better. #giggle# (my opinion again) I don't know what will "advance" Jason but I know what I'll buy. I'll have 10 Jason Castro's Hallelujahs Please! A couple for me and a few for under the Christmas Tree! (and whatever else he decides to put on a cd) The first sentence of your post was beautiful btw. But the rest was wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! So no rocks.. just tomatoes #th045# Well... you asked for it. #thsmiley_peace#

Many of Jasons covers were songs I already liked or loved but I always find myself choosing the "Jason version." Fragile is a fine example of this. And I agree with the above poster, I'll also take 10 Hallelujahs please.....

Same here never heard the Buckley version before. So I downloaded it so I could hear the whole song, after falling in love with Jason's version. I was sooo disappointed. IMO- it's just too slow and drawn out. I guess if you heard that version and liked it years ago that is one thing. But to hear Jason's version first well you really can't go back the other way. So now I too have this Buckley version I skip over it all the time. I really need the Full Length Jason version. Hopefully not in Spanish!!!! Thanks for the laugh I needed it on this rainy chilly evening.

It's the ups and downs in Buckley's song that I don't like. I have to constantly adjust my volume to listen to it. It's real soft and then real Loud. I can't say it isn't beautiful tho but I don't wanna listen to it over and over like I do Jason's. It's the same with some of his other cover songs. I may love the original but it's Jason's that I want to hear over and over. I like more of his songs than I have ever liked any one artists songs and he hasn't even gotten started yet. (That's like amazingly wierd to me) Already I love his original work. Even tho we havn't heard as much of his original songs I have a feeling we're in for a treat. Glad I could give you a chuckle OTRainbow. I was trying to be kind in my rant. #ranting2# Did I do okay? I have to be careful not to get worked up on these forums cuz I really don't wanna hear other peoples opinion unless they agree with me. Ha Ha jk. I will listen to someone elses opinion. ... If it's right. I #thtxtloves-1# smileys sooooo much! I can barely talk without them. LOL

I really feel that if Jason wants his first CD to be a sure fire hit, putting Hallelujah on it would do the trick. There are lots of people that would buy it for Hallelujah alone. Then, they would listen to the rest of his music and fall in love with it just like we have. In my opinion, a lot of people want that song in a full version. I think enough time has passed to rerelease it. I, too, had never heard Buckley's version until Jason sang it. I like Jason's better too. The emotion, the phrasing, the voice - that song has it all.
I teach keyboarding. Sometimes while my kids are typing, I play Jason's music. I always start with Hallelujah. The kids will say, "That's from Shrek. I love that song. Everybody gets quiet." They listen to the rest after that. A lot of people love the song. Please, Jason, put it on your first CD if you can. It would assure you a hit CD. #please# #fingerscrossed#

I love hearing him sing Hallelujah> I listen to it over and over. I immediately, after he sang it bought the whole Buckley CD. I can't listen to it on my Ipod because at times I can't hear it and then all of a sudden it will burst my eardrums. I can still hear Randy saying..."They brought it on, baby!" No, Jason brought it on and he didn't recognize it.

I am going to make the prediction that the song will be nominated for Best Song for the Acadamy Awards and Jason will sing it at the Oscars. Not sure when it is coming out but probable too soon for this February.

I don't know whether I want Hallelujah to be on his cd, but I do want to hear the full version he recorded for the music.
When it first played my sister also recognized it as the song from Shrek. As she's older than me, I shook my head. I have since made her listen to the Buckley version.
I go back and forth. Sometimes I can only listen to Jason's version. Sometimes I can only listen to Buckley's version. It depends on mood. The tone of both versions is very different IMO.

Jason singing the full length version of Hallelujah--all I can say is "Hallelujah.--The lyrics to the full length version are unbelievably beautiful--Jason puts so much passion and raw emotion into his music--it'd be perfect for him.
