Emily, I'm sure you smiled at someone and made their day better. Actually, you made my day better just by reading your post.
Anyhow, this is my week for random kid things. On Monday, a little girl (about 4 years old) was eyeing my cotton candy at Santa Monica Pier and I gave it to her. Today, Aimster, Dani, Castromaniac, Lovebugger and I went to the San Diego Zoo. We bought animal masks and took our pictures wearing them. Two little girls with their mothers were watching us and said that they wanted to "do that" too. Maniac and I gave our masks to the little girl. In the meantime, there was a bus of high school students waiting to leave the zoo. Lovebugger gave her mask to one of the boys who wanted to give it to his little brother.

Okay... I waited until today being it's Jason's birthday of course. I cross a bridge on my way to work which is $1 to cross. I stopped at the booth and gave the guy $30 just for doing a great job. I told him about Jason Castro and he said had heard of him, I told him to check out his page on MS. Then I gave him another $20 to pay for the next 20 people who pass. It was really nice to start the day out that way. Thanks Jason for spreading your joy of the world and it's gifts that go unforseen. You are truly a blessing to all of us and the Lord IS proud! That was really nice! I'll bet he appreciated that! Great way to spead the word about Jason too!! #music-smiley-008# Amen!

Well... this is kind of late because i wasn't able to get on the computer yesterday... so 1st off Happy Belated Birthday Jason!!
My random act of kindness was that i bought two of my friends "buy in" tickets and lunches. but i guess i did take something back... it made me feel great, like i had done something good. Also i helped one of my friends... with her homework in English yesterday. But they were just small things... nothing big, i wish i could have done something bigger and better but it just didn't happen.
Peace!

What an awesome way to celebrate...by helping others. As my random act of kindness, I bought donuts for my fellow nurses on the pediatrics unit yesterday. After seeing the huge response to this thread I'm going to make a conscious effort to pay more attention to those in need so I can do more random acts of kindness in my community.

Today I picked my Mom up from the airport in Philadelphia. She said she wanted a cheesesteak. So we drove to Pat Steaks.. While standing in line I overheard the couple behind me talking. They were saying how nervous they were to order a cheesesteak and this was their first one. So I told them if they ordered wrong, they would have to go to the end of the line, and that I should just order it for them. So I took the order and paid for it. They were surprised and said I didn't have to do that, and asked me why I did it.. I was happy to tell them that today is Jason Castro ( from American Idol fame) b-day and he is getting random acts of kindness for his celebration. They said wow I love Philadelphia.. and then they said.. nah.. I love Jason Castro... Happy Birthday Jason.. AWWW! Beth! That was amazing, and how is your mama, by the way!

Yesterday I went to the local post office to mail a few things (mostly bills). The windows were closed (hours restricted) and there was a gentleman at the side counter with a stack of letters to be mailed and no stamps. He was annoyed because the windows were closed and couldn't believe there were no stamp machines in our little post office. I had stamped my mail previously so just dropped them in the mail slot. The gentleman was really irritated, as he had to get his letters in the mail, had walked to the PO and kept going on about customer service, the economy, being out of a job etc. I listened, then told him, not to worry, that I had stamps that he could have...he reached in his pocket and said all he had was a credit card. Hey, that's ok these stamps have hearts on them and I think I am supposed to give them away today! You are the person who needs them, so here you go, you are supposed to have them!
Ha, just thought of this...I received a call late yesterday from a local Healthcare and Assisted Living Home called Merry Hearts. I called them awhile ago in regard to doing some volunteer work. Next week I am going in for a visit with Social Services to see where there's a fit for my volunteering.
Lots of Happy, Merry Hearts yesterday, including mine!

I don't think I did anything nice today. . . . . . that makes me feel horrible. How did I go a whole day and not do anything? Haha. Well, I didn't punch anyone. Maybe that counts. No, no, no, I'll pretend tomorrow is the day to do something nice. Second chances FTW! It's never too late, Emily... just 'cause you didn't do anything yesterday doesn't mean you can't do it today I didn't do anything more yesterday than any other day... but during the day I managed to do some small things that I hope made a big difference for another person.

I am a firm believer that God places angels in our paths disquised as someone in need and God watches to see if we help a stranger, or do so kind of random act of kindness. I believe it says it somewhere in the Bible. Anywho so I alway help out when I see there is someone needing assistance. People that are asking for money and even the kid outside the store selling candy bars. I know need the candy bar, my hips don't need the candy bar, but I just can not say no. There eyes just light up. And then I'll give the candy bar away. BUT I wanted to share a very special story and you will see why at the end:
Here goes:
One day I was driving home from work, I needed gas, and I was going to stop at my usual place, but for some reason I felt the need to stop at the station just up the block from my usual stop. When I pulled up that was an older women dressed oddly, mini skirt with stockings, a crop jacket over a few layered tops. A really strange hat on funny shoes and she was listening to music through ear pluggs. She was carrying several bag and smelled of alcohol. When I got out of my car she approached me and told me she missed her bus and asked me if I could give her a lift I'd say about 3 miles up the road. Mind you I live right around the corner. I though hummmm, could she be dangerous (I'd had a bad experience before giving someone I didn't know a lift). But I was worried that she might ask someone else and that person might take advantage of her. So I told her well wait here I need to go inside and pay for the gas. When I went inside people inside asked me what she wanted and if she had asked me for a ride. I told them yes and that I would give her a ride to her destignation. Another woman inside said oh she asked me but i told her no. She lookes kind of crazy. The guy behind the counter said I wouldn't advise it but be careful. I thought how sad are these people, not willing to help someone out because of there appreance and of course mental capasity but all the more reason in my eyes. This women was about in her 60s. So she got in my car and started talking and talking about things that have happened to her in the past, something about a boss and special coins, she talked about how she was going to be famous some day as a singer, and how she is just like Brittney Spears. She started singing. And then her bag fell over and out feel a can of Beer. She just laughed and picked it up and put it in her bag. I laughed and said I'm sure glad that wasn't open. Any ways it was clear that this women had mental issues and possibly a drinking problem. But I was glad to get her where she need to go safely. When she got out of my car AND HERE IT IS:
She looked at me as if her mind was as normal as you and I, perfectly sane and said to me:
MAY YOU HAVE PEACE, HAPPENS AND WEALTH, AND LET YOUR CONSCIENCE BE YOUR GUIDE, GOD BLESS YOU
Those word have stuck with me ever sense. I drove away feeling this overwhelming sence of happiness. I really need to hear those words. I myself was struggling with something and I only needed to listen to my conscience. The answer was given to me. So I believe God sent an Angel to me. I believe if that woman before me would have helped I'm sure she would have recieved whatever it was that she needed that day. I was truely blessed that day.
Thanks for letting me share Jeannine

Thank you Cher and I hope more read this post - I know I got in at the end of it but this has stuck with me for so long. God works in so many ways, so many. I can not tell you how very blessed I felt that day. My pray was answered and I was able to handle the situation I was in. I can't tell you how troubled I was over something, but as soon as she got out of my car the answers just came to me right away. So YES I believe, I believe in GOD and all that he does to help out those who help others "Random Acts of Kindness". Please know I'm not going on about what I did - the point I am trying to get out is how God is working in all of us we just need to show some kindness to others. Thank you for your response. Jeannine

Jeannine, your story really moved me. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are such a good person to have reached out to a stranger this way. Your experience reminds me of a woman who used to go to my church, but now is in an assisted living in another state. This woman , Liz, owned a beautiful old brownstone where she lived for 40+ years. That part of the city had steadily deteriorated, and now has crack houses, boarded up buildings, etc. But Liz always stayed there because it was her home. Alot of people ( me included), worried about her, because she would invite stangers in all the time, people from the street who looked hungry or dirty, or lonely. She would offer them food, a shower, an ear, sometimes a bed for the night. She was never afraid that they might rob her, or otherwise take advantage of her. She said that if Jesus knocked on the door , you would think he was a homeless begger, and that these strangers were all God's children , too. Nobody ever harmed her in any way. Occaisionally, they would leave taking extra food that she hadn't offered, but she never resented that. She just figured they needed it. That was the worst that ever happened. I really think that her goodness, love and faith protected her. Same goes for you!
