Now this is more like it.
What's new with everyone?
This summer my youngest is hiking the Appalachian Trail. He's going to go as far as he can before the fall college semester starts. He started at the beginning of the trail in Georgia. Flew down the day after Easter and he's now in Virginia. Having a great time.
What are you guys up to this summer?

Wow this sounds like so much fun. My husband saw a documentary about this and mentioned he wanted to do it. I said - What are you smoking? We are 54 and 53 and I don't think we will do it in this lifetime Your son has the right idea to start young ! This summer we are streching our muscles and doing a 225 mile bicycle ride over 5 days on the Katy Trail in Missouri. That's my hubby's idea of a vacation. Next vacation I chose and it involves, laying around, sleeping, reading, drinking numerous frozen drinks...

Hey Guys!
Wish I had exciting plans for the summer but alas I do not! Wow your son is brave ...did he do that last year too or was that another son?
I do have 2 weeks off in between summer school ending and fall school beginning but we haven't made real plans. I'm open to ideas.
I do plan to see Jason at the end of July in Philly! ;D

He did it last year but, only for a couple weeks. He started in Jersey and went North.
A 225 mile bike ride is amazing for anyone to do. You'll have a ball. However, I agree that your next vacation sounds even better. Have you ever rented a cabin in the woods? No phone, no TV. Just nature? I've never done it but, I've often thought that would be so relaxing.

We've kind of got our own little cabin in the woods; we have a popup on 10 acres where we go for weekends a lot and there isn't phone service there or TV. So I need something in between. I like TV and keeping in touch so that doesn't bother me. But frozen drinks, laying on the beach, sleeping in, that's appealing at this point! I hear Vegas is a great place to go eat and relax, but can't seem to get my hubby interseted in that since we don't gamble.

Rockwallgirl...a place in the woods wounds wonderful too. I love to go to the ocean each summer and for the last 8 years we have. Now everyone is balking (youngest 14 yrs) and I may have to figure out how to still go. My parents want to do a road trip, well, my Dad does, I don't know if he has talked with my Mum yet, but he would like to go to the Maritimes, PEI, Nova Scotia and maybe even Newfoundland. Man that would be some trip.
My son and daughter want me to go out west to British Columbia to see them.
My girlfriend wants to go to Ottawa with me and play tourist,
Hmmmmm lots to think about....maybe I need a cool drink right about now and laze around trying to decide what offer to take.
Everyone out of school right now, and two are painting (art) in the livingroom as I write. Peace reigns here.

Rockwallgirl, Vegas has a lot to do besides gambling. You could spend a day or two just checking out the great casino hotels. The entertainment is great (if you go, a not to miss show is the Beatles Love Cirque Du Soleile). And of course, you can take a day trip to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. It can be very relaxing but, a week secluded in the woods sounds like heaven.
Flying, are you able to go on all of those trips with your parents and children and friend? If so, I say do it.

Deborah77-I hear good things about Vegas and I think that might be the most reasonably priced and feasable option for my family. With kids 23 and 21 years of age, they aren't into going on a LONG trip with parents and keeping them occupied is a challenge. They would love to go to see the Beatles show in Vegas. We are BIG Beatles fans and made it mandatory for them to be too as we raised them. Airfare to Vegas is pretty cheap and hotels too and I wouldn't have to get a passport. I think a late August trip to Vegas sounds good. Might be hot, but we could manage!

Today is my last day of work before 6 days of vacation. We are off on our bicycle ride across Missouri on the Katy Trail. IF I come back alive (haha) I will post how it went. My hubby's idea of fun! It will be awesome to see the route of Lewis and Clark and the Missouri Rive and all though. I might go through withdrawl without my twitter, dreadhheads and castro cafe though. Everyone have a great week and I'll talk to you when I get back! Pray that my house is still standing after leaving the 21 and 23 year olds to take care of it and the dog!

It's like a club and you sit at small tables. Very intimate and every seat is a good one. My guess is that it seats about 50. My advice would be to walk everywhere. They have these buses that run constantly but, when we went they were always packed and it was a nightmare. When you're walking during the day, I found that people come up to you with free tickets for different shows too.

Well, I don't get over here much so I'm just now answering deborah77's question about our bike ride across Missouri. It was Awesome! Highly recommend it to anyone who is a new cyclist, you have all day to get done so can go fast or slow. Friendly people, great food and beautiful scenary. We got done quickly each day to beat the heat, and met some great friends. We are going on another bike ride in September in Little Rock Arkansas with friends we made onthe Katy Trail. It's called the Big Dam Bridge 100; we are doing the 50 miles, So I'm still riding....

Yeah rockwallgirl....sounds like you had a fabulous time. You seemed not so sure at first. Deb.....my parents changed their mind, but my friends in PEI are begging me to come down and right now. lol Don't know if I can. Went to Ottawa, and it is a wonderful place for you all to come up and visit. Highly recommend a summer visit when they change the guards at Parliament everymorning, plus so much else. Also went to visit my two eldest children in BC. One in Vancouver and one on Vancouver Island as he is based at Comox, the military base there. Just returned home actually and am quite unsettled to say the least. No one here, all kids on holidays or working. Life is changing and I am trying to get used to the changes. Our sweet Joey died (cockatiel) yesterday. She was my and all my family's favourite bird. Yellow and sweet, beautiful and well, now she has crossed the Bridge and is out of pain, on the other side with all our other animal loves who have gone on before. Anyone seen Kim anywhere?

Good Morning Ladies!
How is everyone's summer going? The weather has finally changed here...there is a chill in the air and it has rained the passed two days. This summer has been way too hot and dry for this Jersey girl.
So does anyone know what is going on in Jason's world? I don't even go on Twitter anymore. My computer kept locking me out till I gave up. So I'm only on FB and he doesn't post much of anything on there. Has anyone heard if there will be a fall tour?
What has everyone up to this summer?

Coming up to October. The leaves are changing colours and the weather doesn't know whether to be cold or warm.
Wish Kim would stop. At least I know where RR is, and RQ too.
Muah to those who stop by.
