What songs inspire you and touch your heart? I have two right now.
The first is my favorite song of all time. This song has had a special place in my heart since I was six years old.
Amazing Grace "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me.... I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught... my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear... the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares... we have already come. T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far... and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me... His word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be... as long as life endures.
When we've been here ten thousand years... bright shining as the sun. We've no less days to sing God's praise... then when we've first begun.
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me.... I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now, I see.
The other, I only just heard recently
Redeemer Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? and Who told the ocean you can only come this far? and Who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening? Whose words alone can catch a falling star?
Well I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives: All of creation testifies This life within me cry I know my Redeemer lives, yeah.
The very same God that spins things in orbit runs to the weary, the worn and the weak And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken They conquered death to bring me victory
Now I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives Let all creation testify Let this life within we cry I know my Redeemer, He lives To take away my shame And He lives forever, I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sin Was the precious life He gave But now He's alive and There's an empty grave.
And I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives Let all creation testify Let this life within me cry I know my Redeemer,
I know my Redeemer I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives I know that I know that I know that I know that I know my redeemer lives Because He lives I can face tomorrow I Know I know He lives He lives yeah, yeah I spoke with him this morning He lives He lives, the tomb is empty, He lives I gotta tell everybody
I think my favorite part is the second verse. God is so big. He created everything, but he cares about the small things. He's the one who holds us when we are broken. What a blessing it is to know Him!

Oh sooo many from which to choose....
If we're talking church songs... this one always gets me feeling good and puts a smile on my face from the inside out:
"King Of Majesty"
You know that, I love you, You know that, I want to know you so much more, More than I have before
These words are, From my heart, These words are, Not made up, I will live for you, I am devoted to you,
Pre-Chorus: King of Majesty I have one desire Just to be with you my Lord, Just to be with you my Lord,
Chorus: Jesus you are the Saviour of my soul And forever and ever I'll give my praises to you, Jesus you are the Saviour of my soul And forever and ever I'll give my praises to you,
Bridge: Jesus you are the Saviour of my soul(echo) And forever and ever I'll give my praises to you(echo)

I was listening to this song today, and it made me think of all of my wonderful new friends and prayer partners. I am so blessed to know you all, and I mean this from my heart.
Carry You to Jesus Steven Curtis Chapman
I will not pretend to feel the pain you’re going through I know I cannot comprehend the hurt you’ve known And I used to think it mattered if I understood But now I just don’t know
Well, I’ll admit sometimes I still wish I knew what to say And I keep looking for a way to fix it all But we know we’re at the mercy of God’s higher ways And our ways are so small
But I will carry you to Jesus He is everything you need I will carry you to Jesus on my knees
It’s such a privilege for me to give this gift to you All I’d ever hope you’d give me in return Is to know that you’ll be there to do the same for me When the tables turn
And if you need to cry go on and I, I will cry along with you, yeah I’ve given you what I have but still I know the best thing I can do Is just pray for you
I’ll carry you I’ll take you to Jesus on my knees

This song is one of my favorites it's by Casting Crowns Praise You in this Storm
I was sure by now that you would have reached down and wiped our tears away stepped in and saved the day But once again I say amen and it's still raining As the thunder rolls I barely hear you whisper through the rain "I'm with you" And as Your mercy falls I raise my hand and praise the God who gives and takes away
CHORUS
I'll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands For You are who You are No matter where I am And every tear I cried You hold in Your hand You never left my side and though my heart is torn I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind You heard my cry and You raised me up again My strength is almost gone how can I carry on If I can't find You As the thunder rolls I barely hear You whisper through the rain "I'm with you" and as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives and takes away
REPEAT CHORUS
I lift my eyes unto the hills Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord The maker of Heaven and Earth (2x)
I'll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands You are who You are no matter where I am And every tear I cried You hold in Your hand Though my heart is torn I'll praise You in this storm Though my heart is torn I'll praise You in this storm

This is one of my favorites especially done by Michael W. Smith on his worship tape. I like the 4 lines of the chorus part the best.
Our God Is An Awesome God
When He rolls up His sleeves He ain't just puttin' on the ritz (our God is an awesome God) There is thunder in His footsteps And lightning in His fist (our God is an awesome God) Well, the Lord wasn't joking When He kicked 'em out of Eden It wasn't for no reason that He shed his blood His return is very close and so you better be believing that our God is an awesome God
REFRAIN Our God(our God) is an awesome God He reigns(He reigns) from heaven above With wisdom(with wisdom) pow'r and love our God is an awesome God
And when the sky was starless in the void of the night (our God is an awesome God) He spoke into the darkness and created the light (our God is an awesome God) Judgment and wrath he poured out on to Sodom Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten that our God is an awesome God
Refrain x3
Our God is an awesome God Our God is an awesome God (Our God is an awesome God) (Our God is an awesome God)

I Love this song.
ONE DAY AT A TIME, SWEET JESUS One day at a time, Sweet Jesus I'm only human, I'm just a woman help me believe in what I could be and all that I am, show me the stairway I have to climb, Lord for my sake teach me to take one day at a time. One day at a time, sweet Jesus. That's all I'm asking from you just give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine. Lord help me today, show me the way One day at a time.
Do you remember when you walked among men? well, Jesus you know if you're looking below it is worse now than then cheating and stealing, violence and crime, so for my sake, teach me to take one day at a time.
One day at a time, sweet Jesus that's all I'm asking from you just give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do. Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus and tomorrow may never be mine Lord help me today show me the way one day at a time.

One Touch by Nicole C. Mullen - This song is even more amazing live.
Been ostracized for 12 years I’m used to being alone Spend everything I had and now It’s gone I’m used to being put down My issues tell it all My only hope is taken in this fall If I could just touch the hem of His garment I know I’d be made whole If I could just press my way through this madness His love would fill my soul If only One Touch So many people call him How could He every know That just the brush of Him would stop the flow If He knew would he would rebuke me? Or shame me to the crowd? Well, I’m desperate because it’s never or now (chorus) And then suddenly He turned around He said somebody has unleashed My power Well, frightened and embarrassed I bowed You see I told Him of my troubles and how, I had to touch the hem of His garment And I know I’ve been made whole And how I had pressed my way through the madness And His love has healed my soul Then with one word, He touched the hem of my garment And you know I’ve been made whole And somehow He pressed His way through my madness And His love has healed my soul I tell you He touched me He reached way down and touched me When no one else would touch me. And I know I’ve been made whole.

Y'all will hear me say this over and over. Don't get tired of it. Elisabeth Elliott, a tremendous example of a woman of faith, has written about the importance of singing songs with substance, particularly hymns, because "we teach ourselves theology when we sing." One of my favorite hymns follows. It reminds me so much of what Scripture teaches us. I learned it in college (35 years ago), and it's been something of an "ever-present help in trouble". I'm sure all of us can relate.
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent word! What more can He say than to you He hath said - to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
"Fear not, I am with thee- O be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will still give thee aid; I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
"When thru the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow; For I will be with you they troubles to bless, And sanctify to thee they deepest distress.
"When thru fiery trials they pathway shall lie, My grace, all-sufficient- shall be thy supply; The flame shall not hurt thee- I only design Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to his foes; That soul, tho all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never - no never - no never forsake."

That's wonderful! It reminds me of one of my favorite verses:
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (New International Version)
8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Oh, what a good reminder. Thanks, Kendra.
Also reminds me of JB Phillipps' translation of 2 Corinthians 6: 4-10
Indeed we want to prove ourselves genuine ministers of God whatever we have to go through - patient endurance of troubles, hardship, desperate situations, being flogged or imprisoned; being mobbed, overworked, sleepless and starving; with sincerity, with insight and patience; by sheer kindness and the Holy Spirit; with genuine love, speaking the plain truth, and living by the power of God. Our sole defense, our only weapon, is a life of integrity, whether we meet honour or dishounour, praise or blame. Called "imposters" we must be true, called "nobodies" we must be in the public eye. Never far from death, yet here we are alive, always "going through it" yet never "going under". We know sorrow, yet our joy is inextinguishable. We have "nothing to bless ourselves with" yet we bless many others with true riches. We are penniless, and yet we possess everything.

Oh, thank you for posting these verses. I have been going through some emotional battles with my teenagers. And I've been feeling overwhelmed, trying to "fix" everyone's problems. I needed to be reminded that He is strong in my weakness. Now, I can rest. I don't know why I always forget this. God bless you all!

We all do, Kendra. We're human, but He loves us anyway! Isn't that a blessing? Let God lift you up. With Him on your side, you can face anything!
Here's another good one:
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Thank you, that is a good verse also. I am going to put that up where I can see it as a reminder for my daily battles. #LOVE#
I am so excited to get into this bible study. I really need the discipline to get back into reading the bible and praying daily.

As promised in the PM, this is the verse:
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Although the fig tree does not burgeon, the vines bear no fruit, the olive-crop fails, the orchards yield no food, the fold is bereft of its flock and there are no cattle in the stalls, YET I will exult in the LORD and rejoice in the God of my deliverance. The LORD God is my strength, who makes my feet nimble as a hind's and sets me (free) to range the heights.
Certainly, in this economic whirlwind, this is something we all need. And then there is the rest of life!
Now to stay focused on the God who really is our strength instead of looking at the reality of the waves on which we are walking.
