Can't wait to hear about your experiences and see your pics. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: citygirl on August 25, 2008, 02:20:20 PM You local guys have done a great job on the signs, and the quilt. I know Jason will love it all. I am a hometown dreadhead too, but have not been able to take part in the events, so will live vicariously through all of you and hope to be there at his first solo event! Have a blast and tell him his HOMETOWN has missed him terribly! Have fun and be safe yall! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: JasonAndTrina on August 25, 2008, 02:23:14 PM Wow, he's going to love the quilt, how could he not? I can't wait to see a pic or vid of when it's given to him. If nobody is able to get one, that's ok, just a description of his response when he got it will do also. The BBQ seems like it went great and was a lot of fun. Makes me almost wish I was from Dallas! I'm in VA so a bit too far to travel, but if I was closer I would DEFINITELY be at the show tonight. I'm soooo anxious to hear how everything goes tonight, so don't make us wait too long before posting your experiences!! More to come... ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: faithgirl on August 25, 2008, 10:36:38 PM okay, where to start... We arrived around 12:45pm, and parked our van, and everything. Some other dreadheads had hung a welcome home Jason sign. We talked for few minutes, and then I went to the place where the idols would come out to take pics, etc. with someone while my mom, dad, and sister stayed to see the buses come in. So I walk there and wait and watch the people (lots of dreadheads, cookies, and archies!). And finally raee_castro, Rachel, comes up to me and asks if I want to go back to the buses because she wanted to go. So I said yes. We walked there and chatted with the other dreadheads over there. And I keep a look out for the buses, but the opposite way they were coming. We waited about an hour, and I look behind me and said, "look, there's a bus" not KNOWING that it was THE buses! So I take pictures of the buses, all three of them, go by. And then we pick up all of our things and move back to where they would come to see us. so me and my sister got first row. They were letting people in to use the restroom, and my mom and sister went. I have Jason's gift, my poster and my camera in my hand, and all of the sudden David Cook walks out. So I drop all of my stuff, except for my camera, and take pictures of him. And then my sister comes up to me and starts talking, not realizing that David Cook was on the other side of the barrier, and all of the sudden she sees him, and is like "whoa, I didn't even know he was there!" So he comes down the line, and I was like "Hannah, go ask for a picture!" so she goes up and I get a picture of her, and then I get one too. And then I started like crying. My hands were shaking so badly, and it isn't because I had a picture with David Cook, I think it is because I was just getting out of shock of the idols were actually here! kind of thing. And then Archie comes out, and he starts at the beginning of the line like David Cook did. And us dreadheads were at the beginning of the line. So I take pictures of him, and then me and my sister get a pic with him, and he moves on. Kristy Lee Cook comes out, but head to like the middle of the line. And then JASON!!!!!!! He comes out, and we get our pictures and stuff ready for him to sign. And he comes our way, and we ask him to sign those, and then we get pictures. I was just kind of babbling to him, and I'm not sure he understood me, but he was so nice.... KLC comes over to our section, and I get a picture with her, and she continues down the line. After Jason finished with the dreadheads, he was rushing a bit with everyone else. But David Cook and Archie took their time and didn't leave anyone out that did get an autograph or anything. KLC was very rushed...not out long at all. Only Jason, David, David, and Kristy came out. Now for the concert - Chikeze - eh, he was alright. I wasn't really into any of his songs... Ramielle - She has a voice, but didn't like her songs. Michael - I like Michael...he was good. Kristy - God Bless the USA was good. Carly - She was alright. Brooke - I really liked her during the show, and she was amazing tonight! Especially 1, 2, 3, 4. Jason - Good all the way around. He did say he had a cold and his voice sounded noticeably different, but he was AWESOME‼ Syesha - Not going there... David A. - He was good...and I am not an Archie fan. David C. - He was pretty good. I like the song "Hello" and the other song "I don't wanna close my eyes" or whatever the name is... Pictures coming soon! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 25, 2008, 10:39:35 PM We didn't get kisses, waahhh, j/k! Here are a couple pics from earlier. I am still on cloud 9. We had the best time ever!! Jason is just awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome. I'm exhausted....can't think of any other way of describing him right now. I do have to say that the wait was well worth it. I will post more when I get some sleep. This has been a long day and it's not over for me. I need to get the kids clothes and lunch ready and then have to get up and get them off to school. I hope it's ok that I'm posting these here. Listening to mini guitar... Trying to talk to my extremely shy daughter Her pic with him!! And another one

First day of school for my kids. Much to do. I took my daughter with me to the concert and I wasn't about to make her stay up that late. Edited to add: I am reading the recaps of others and becoming very envious. I think I may have made the wrong decision, I don't know. Oh, well, there will be other chances. The concert: This recap is now enhanced with Abrahammy's Comic Adventures in Amateur Concert Photography: a how not-too manual. Witness bumbling attempts to give self crash course on the fly. Feel free to laugh. This is meant to be funny. I have said this before, and I repeat. Best. Cast. EVER. This is my third American Idol concert and in the last two, there were always people I felt I was suffering through. Not this time. Everybody was SOLID. Some people had moments of real brilliance or beauty. I am quite certain that nearly all these people ranked in such a way to give the best concert possible. Nobody really got robbed that much. To recap: Chickeze - combines much of the technical brilliance of Ruben Studdard with personality and the ability to move around the stage without looking like a beached whale attempting to get its land legs. I Believe to my Soul was a terrific way to start the concert. I tried to take a picture of the stage. It looked awful. Rami - she's cute. Perky. Cutesy. Entertaining, in kind of a Six-Flags performer superficial kind of way. I enjoyed her while she was onstage and I can't remember a single thing she did. I made shaky attempts to photograph the jumbotron. Michael Johns - He's a very polished, season performer and it was obvious. He filled the arena and he was very glibly dazzling. Photos stank. Kristy Lee Cook - Her singing was fine. I'm getting pretty tired of the pandering. OK, you are proud to be an American. I get it. I practiced photographing the jumbotron again. Progress. Carly Smithson - Technically dazzling. Very impressive. A couple of times I really sat back and admired her skill. Actually got a reasonable photo. But contrast her with... Brooke White - Her appearance marked the first time during the concert that I was not merely entertained or impressed. Brooke was touching. Most of the time, when you encounter somebody who is all sunshine and sparkles and sweetness, you wonder what horrors hide underneath, but here's the Brooke thing - she really IS sunshine and sparkles all the way through, and it was obvious during her set. I got mad at the AI brass again. They made this gentle soul cry. A lot. Photos fuzzy. Jason - OK, I think I have officially spent too much time at that myspace playing songs. Rainbow and Daydream were not highlights of the concert for me. It's not anything he did wrong. He was charming and lovely and fine. There's just SO many times you can listen to the same song over and over! But Crazy - I LOVED Crazy. That was great. A song I've heard him sing less than 20 times. Delightful. Wonderful. And all that photograpy practice during the first half paid off; I got several fair pictures. This is the second time I've seen Jason in concert; the first time, I was about five feet away from him in what felt a little more intimate. My feelings on Jason in the arena is that he's good enough that the arena does not swallow him whole; however, I do think the warmth and sincerity of his delivery works better in a smaller venue. He's not an arena artist, but I can't wait to see him in a smaller hall. My dream concert; Brooke and Jason join forces and take their Sunshine and Rainbows tour all around, reintroducing the idea of unironic sweetness to a jaded world hungry for something warm. Syesha - OK. You are loud. You have boobs. Screech. There will be another version of you next year; you are Tamyra v. 7. I practiced taking photos of the jumbotron again, and showed my daughter how. The result was not good and we did not care. Archie - OK, this was the biggest surprise of the night. I thought I didn't like David Archuleta, and I thought he was a robot, but tonight this kid did a version of Stand By Me that very obviously came from the inner crevices of his soul and I was very impressed. I actually stood a little and made some noise for a kid I did not vote for once the entire season. Nicely done, Archie. Very nicely done indeed. I almost forgot about the camera. Cook - OK, don't shoot me. This was the right winner. I'm glad I voted for him. He's the arena guy. He's the guy who can get the crowd pumped up. He's funny. He's thoughtful in places and actually shares his perception. He takes pictures of the crowd, because he is savoring this. He sings BIG. He is honest enough to confess his discomfort with the Magic Rainbows line. He is doing that particular job really well, and we enjoyed his first three songs a LOT. And I got several OK pictures. Then he sang Hero for his brother and my daughter, who had been having a wonderful time, crumpled up in a miserable ball because he was too loud for her. If Jason had not been in the last song, I would have left with her then, but I used that promise as the incentive to get her through the end of the concert. RockJason took a great photo for us; I am not posting that because I'm trying to keep my daughter's image off the Internet. Finale: Irony - bring everybody back out to sing Don't Stop the Music. Have them then stop the music. Now that I have actually seen the show, I understand why the two group numbers are the way they are. They are finales for the two halves; if the Final Four were to come out during the first act group number, that would be their first appearance onstage and it's not the first impression any of them want to make because the group numbers are much less interesting than the solo numbers. However, the finale of the entire show probably should contain the entire cast. Ideally, it would have been nice if Jason and Syesha had had one more song. Logistically, a duet between them would have been ideal, but I can't see there being a song in the world that's appropriate for those two and she'd probably try to blast him offstage. Now, IDEALLY, Syesha comes in sixth, Carly moves up to fifth, Brooke and Jason are fourth and third and THEY do the duet before the Davids, but... ah, I can dream. We had a great time. And RockJason, it was a pleasure to meet you.

####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 25, 2008, 11:48:31 PM Glad you liked the pics . That is my daughter Mialani in both pics. My twin boy's weren't there. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: sixtimemom on August 25, 2008, 11:56:14 PM I've been home for a bit and got my pictures uploaded. Some turned out really nice and some ....well lets just say I needed a tripod. I will post them once I take them through photo shop so hopefully sometime tomorrow. I started tonight but I am waaay to tired to continue. Same with the recap...it was quite the day....I could have left after we saw Jason before the concert and been one happy girl. Lot's of fun and laughter. Oh yea....got some GREAT video but again will have to work on it and post it tomorrow. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 26, 2008, 12:03:49 AM Oh sixtimemom, from what I saw....your pics were great!!! I can't wait to see them all posted. I had a great time with you and your girls and hubby. You're all such a nice family (I know I have yet to meet the rest of the kids)! get some rest girl, I'm off to bed in a few too. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 26, 2008, 12:06:21 AM TX49er, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you taking care of Mialani while I walked to the car. You helped out tremendously!!! It was quite a walk and if I had that poor (already tired) girl with me, we wouldn't have made it in time for the concert. THANKS CHIQUITA!!! Oh and I'm sorry about not finding you right away, I wasn't sure where you were or if you had sat down yet. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 26, 2008, 12:09:02 AM A few more pics then I'm off to bed. I can't wait to see everyone elses Him walking back in. The original was really dark for some reason so I tried lightening it but the quality wasn't good. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: ELgmom on August 26, 2008, 12:19:20 AM Quote from: mariana on August 25, 2008, 01:51:58 PM Sam texted me a few minutes ago. She told me Jason kissed her! She cannot believe her luck! 8) Is she the one from Mexico? If so, I saw Jason kiss her on the cheek. I almost got a picture of it, but sadly didn't. If you talk to her, tell her I will get her other pictures uploaded. But first I have to learn photobucket! Sorry if parts of my descriptions are not clear, have typos, and bad sentence structure. Just ask me about it. Seriously I may be dehydrated. Thanks to all of you who recommended Gatorade. I hate the stuff, but drank it anyway and felt better. Now to find the Noxema for my sunburn. Autographs before: Cook, Archie, KLC and Jason. Security told us several times that this would be all. Hot and sweaty, we left. Later found out Brooke came out. She is beautiful, and we wanted her autograph. Jason wore "the shirt"...the one from NY..the repeater shirt. lol He is so sweet and takes his time with each person. Comparing May's homecoming and todays, Jason seems more at ease with this process. I finally got my squiggy and autograph on the back of my blue T. It was too hot to wear it, so I had it on a clipboard for him to sign. Looks so cute. Worth all the sweat! Got some great closeup shots of Jason. Now I have to figure out PB to post them. Cook was really nice, talkative, funny and friendly. My daughter & I like him more after autographs today. Archie was cute. My daughter wanted her picture with him, and he said he didn't know that he might be getting sick. He didn't want to give it to anyone. We said it's OK, so she got her picture! (Archie did not sound sick during the concert, but he may have been a bit winded.) KLC is shorter than we thought. She was friendly and answered questions. Concert: All of them have improved since they were on AI. Jason was great!! Lots of screams and standing ovations. Oldest daughter and I were at homecoming and have not heard him live since. We thought he sounded a bit hoarse. Jason held up a Texas flag behind him and then draped it over his shoulders! lol He said that the first time he sang "Crazy" was at the W hotel, which is close to the AAC. His set IS way too short. Chikeze is an entertainer all right. Wow! Ramiele was cute, energetic, and sounded good. I was not expecting this after the reviews I had read, but was pleasantly surprised. MJ---we all loved him! He is hot! KLC--My husband would have loved her set had he been there. She sings the songs, but doesn't really make it her own. Beautiful though. Carly's songs were LOVED by my 23 yr old, and thinks that Carly would kill on a cut of "You're So Vain." I liked her last song the best. Brooke is beautiful as well. We enjoyed her set very much. I had binoculars and watched her feet as she played the piano. Wow! Those bare feet really dance. Syesha has a good voice but...all I could look at was...Well, my youngest daugher (23 yr.) put it this way.. "It's funny that she has 'blossomed' overnight...she must have put her idol money to good use." My mind just wandered over her last 2 songs... We loved the guitar hero commercial!! It is so much better live than on youtube. Archie received standing ovations and lots of screams. My daughter and I have not heard screams like that since her Hansen days. lol Enjoyed Cook's first couple of songs, but not so much the others. At the autograph signing, a lady gave Cook a black TX hat. He wore it during the last number, and it was passed around... Brooke to Jason to Carly..it was cute. Jason was not due to come out after the concert to sign, so we left when we saw the multitudes waiting. This was a wonderful day. I wish that I could do it all again in OKC!!! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: 1plustwins on August 26, 2008, 12:20:43 AM Yes, that's her. I'm dying to hear how she got a kiss. That's awesome! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: ♥Jasonisluv♥ on August 26, 2008, 03:09:09 AM thanks for sharing your experiences and reviews of the concert. still waiting for more pics and vids! and to sam, a very lucky girl!!! aaaahhhhhh, so jealous!! your story is the one that i'm anxiously waiting for. Dallas TX tour thread from DDB continued ========================####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: JasonAndTrina on August 26, 2008, 03:15:20 AM Those were great experiences everyone! The pictures were really nice too. I'm glad everyone had a good time, it is a lot of fun. That's why I'm going back in 2 weeks to my 3rd pre-concert signing and my 2nd concert (last time we just went for the signing, not the concert too). I'm so excited already and reading all of these reviews and seeing the pictures makes me even more excited, I can't wait. Can't wait to read more recaps and see more pictures, reviews, and even videos from Dallas. Keep 'em coming! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: gemini4jc on August 26, 2008, 05:07:20 AM Dallas stories are great. Keep them coming please. I see Jason saved his favorite shirt for his Hometown. ####################Title: Dallas Post by: mbbluets on August 26, 2008, 05:23:59 AM Jason got the quilt at the afterparty last night! There was too much going on for him to but have a glimpse of it, but he has it!!! The plan was for Momma Castro to take it home with her for now! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: rosequeen49 on August 26, 2008, 06:03:14 AM Quote from: 1plustwins on August 25, 2008, 10:39:35 PM We didn't get kisses, waahhh, j/k! And another one Love it! and WOW real nice new avi too! ####################Title: Re: Dallas Post by: rosequeen49 on August 26, 2008, 06:07:33 AM Quote from: mbbluets on August 26, 2008, 05:23:59 AM Jason got the quilt at the afterparty last night! Jason got his quilt. So glad about that as it is so beautiful. Much love and dedication went into that quilt. Can't wait for more reviews and pictures. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: castrovote on August 26, 2008, 06:55:57 AM Keeping this thread open FOR SURE! Love seeing all the pictures and reading the recaps. THANKS! And the most exciting news... JASON GOT HIS QUILT!! I'll definitely check out the QOL MS page for info on that! WHOOP! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: aggiemom12 on August 26, 2008, 08:53:16 AM okay where to start! Got down there around noon. met up with several other dh's. It was definitely hot. I have LOTS of pictures and a few videos that I will upload later (when my daughter gets home from school - she knows how to do it!). we had banners, balloons, posters all over the place. we handed out castro cds, had his music blasting in the background. First to come out was David Cook. He was funny and really nice and looked alot better without his guyliner! Looks like he has lost alot of weight too. Got his pic and autograph. (I had a top 10 picture for all of them to sign.) Next were Archie and Kristy. They started at opposite ends. Archie started at our end and he is just a sweetheart; he took his time. Kristy was very quick, but friendly, and boy is she skinny! Got both of their pix and autographs. Next came JASON!!! boy were we screaming (video coming shortly) I was a little nervous: I was trying to hold so many things (poster, shirt, 2 cameras and phone). He was so generous with his time and spent alot of time with us. All I could think about was how I was going to ask him to leave my daughter a voicemail. My husband gave her the option to skip her first day of HS, but she didn't want to miss it, and I know that she cannot answer her phone during school so I thought it would be a great surprise for her! And HE DID!!!!! I seriously don't know who was more excited about it: me or her!!! He signed everything, took pictures. HE WAS GREAT!!!!! He even took a picture of all us dreadheads with our "JASON'S HOMETOWN DREADS" posters, before he left. Then security said no one else was coming out. We waited a bit and then decided to leave to cool off and eat. As I was going to my car to put away the posters, I ran into Nancy (i believe) and she was with Dawn Reddig from neighborsgo.com. She asked for some info about the signings. And I even told her about him leaving my daughter a voicemail (go to neighborsgo.com for those details - yes that's my daughters story!) Then on the way to meet up, I saw that Brooke had come out, so I rushed over and got her autograph and picture too! She is sooo sweet and tall! Then we all went to eat (and cool off) before the concert.

####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: aggiemom12 on August 26, 2008, 09:04:37 AM Oh I forgot to tell you about my daughter's reaction. On her way down, she called me (my hubby picked her up and drove her down to meet me - what a GREAT dad). When she listened to her voicemail, she started to jump up and down, boy was she surprised and excited. 8) Then I told her about the neighborsgo thing and she just looked shocked! She really enjoyed the WHOLE thing. She got to wear the shirt Jason signed for her earlier. Now onto the concert: It was great, even better than I imagined. We got a kick out of the guitar hero commercials. (especially at intermission - Drummer Jason yeah) Chikezie: I enjoyed his set alot. He was very energetic and his voice was solid. He got the crowd going (especially when he mentioned our Jason) Ramiele: She was much better than I thought she'd be. Very cute, but I was waiting for that big voice :-\ MJ: What can I say - HE WAS GREAT (I have to admit this - even though I think he is a bit arrogant and a showoff) Kristy: I'm not into country, so she wasn't my favorite and YES I did stand up when she sang God Bless the USA - because of the flag! Didn't care for her other two songs. Carly: Liked her last two songs - Crazy on You and Drove all night - girls got chops! Didn't like her first song too much, but my daughter did. And my daughter said she looks so different with her new teeth and she's lost some weight Brooke: Let it Be - WOW. 1,2,3,4 was okay, different. Really enjoyed her take on Coldplays Yellow. She even interacted with the audience saying we got her now to say "Y'ALL" She really is a sweet, beautiful person and I hope her career really takes off (she was our 2nd fav) Intermission: We didn't budge because we didn't want to miss Jason will finish the post later (on my way to a job interview, please pray for me - thx) Oh and btw. I HAD A BLAST WITH YOU LADIES, AND I'M GLAD I GOT TO HANG WITH YOU ALL AFTERNOON. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: keahgirl8 on August 26, 2008, 09:11:20 AM Love all the pictures and stories! He came out wearing it for the last group number. It kinda got passed around and Jason put it on too...it was a hoot! As you can see, it just sat atop his head...because of his dreads. Let me say that DC actually looked pretty good with the hat! hahaha! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: aggieaubs on August 26, 2008, 10:23:57 AM I'm going to give a brief recap of my experience... KK came down from wisconsin sun. night and we went to the cook out and met lots of people. Got to the arena at about 11 on the next day, I was surprised their weren't very many people there... but SO glad at the same time, chicago was crazy and we didn't really get to talk to the idols. David Cook came out and me having a very girly crush on him. (Yes, I admit it. Never voted for him because my loyalty lies with Castro since I knew him)--- which is also the reason I feel like I can't go "crazy" about him. Anyways, I was stoked when cook came out first and I told KK I was going to pee my pants with excitement. Mistake. haha. KK: "Hey david, she's peeing her pants!" DC: "like, currently?" KK: "yes, right now.." something along those lines DC: "well, thats not really my style... maybe Jason Castro..." (I had an I love JC/DC sign) Me: .... silent. Got a picture with him. SHAKINGGGGG. couple minutes later kk: "David, she's done peeing now, and she forgot to ask for a hug can she get one?" DC: "well sure!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Archie came and went, told us he was sick and didn't want to talk a lot. KLC, I think she came by? haha. Jason came out and I actually didn't get all fan-girly... came up and took a picture with me and said, "HEY! Good to see you again!" I am glad he remembers me now. The concert was fun, although I felt like the crowd had a lot less energy compared to chicago when i expected it to be a lot more. Chik: loved him, and his songs he's great. Rami: i went to the bathroom. dull. MJohns: He is great, but I am so tired of the we are the champions junk KLC: stood for god bless america. the rest of the time I was texting.. haha. i'm rude i know. Carly: she is a powerhouse. i freaking love her. and her and michael johns together are killer. Brooke: adorable. i love the snap song. Jason: i felt like he has grown so much and did better than he did in chicago and seems a lot more comfortable Sy: i am so tired of seeing her boobs. Archie: you could tell he was sick and struggling, poor guy. Cook: he's amazing. Hero was greatttt. everything he sang was great, and i loved his interaction with the audience. I had so much fun meeting new dreadheads yesterday, esp aggie02!!! Lunch/Dinner was great I had so much fun.... hope to see all you ladies again soon! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: lady_texan on August 26, 2008, 10:42:06 AM Hey everyone!! The BBQ was great, and what a treat to get to see the quilt. Thanks, Mary Anne. It was good to renew acquaintances in person from Homecoming and to meet new Dreadheads that I only know from your user name! The concert was great; I enjoyed every Idol except one; that's petty, I know, but I just can't help it. I loved Jason with the flag. I arrived back in Chicago today, thankfully before whatever computer glitch happened. Everything went smoothly. Can't wait to see you guys again - just give me a reason and I'm there!! Well, I'm back too and first I want to say - DREADHEADS ARE AMAZING - I had an incedible time meeting so many wonderful and selfless people. Everyone just takes everyone in like we've known each other our entire lives. 4Ever, PRNC5, AggieAubs, Kk, and beautiful_chaos I am sooooooo glad I got to know each of you and look forward to someday getting back together with you. Dallas Dreads - Trish, Sixtimemom, Lisa, Jeanie, lady_texan, JC4JC, 1plustwins, Rachel, and everyone I'm accidentally leaving out, you made a great event - more than awesome! I hope I get to come visit again soon.
Now, my experience didn't get to start until 2:30 when my husband dropped me off at American Airlines Center where a bunch of blue shirts were hanging out. When I got out of my car I immediately saw that Jason was right in front of me signing autographs. I'm pretty sure that's when the "hulk transformation" began. I lived through Beatle Mania - well, I brought this back in style!!!! From a 50 yr.old to 15 just crossing the street . I started immediately trying to "break in" to the already staked out fans. I had a huge sign and although I tried not to, the thought of knocking a few in the front out of my way did cross my mind.
Am i suppose to be telling a straight story, or is it ok that I'm embellishing? - ok, no one here answered so I'm continuing.
I then decided I better start running, like I've been in training, from one end of the fence to the other. My pictures were taken from every side of the barrier. Notice: East side:
south side:
(that's actually a very bad picture of me - my hair when I've been running)
west side:
(that's actually me too - my hair, after I've "fixed it", when I've been running)
north was the AAC. and then I was back again. BTW both David's were out there but I didn't bother them aren't I nice. ;D
This story is taking way toooo long. The rest, well, loved the people - Sooner, thanks for putting up with me and everyone, I must have been yelling the entire time because I can't talk today - my first day back to school . When I woke up I knew I hadn't trained hard enough for the running, because my back is killProxy-ConnectioProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0

g me today and Today - from 50 to 80 over night! BUT WORTH EVERY SORE MUSCLE AND SCRATCHY THROAT!!!
The Crazydo Review of the concert: Chikeeze: Nice stage presence Ramielle: yeah, right Michael Johns: my husband loved Queen, but I wish they had been singing it. :-\ Kristy: I stood because it said to.........cheap way to get an ovation - she is pretty Carly: My husband liked her.....again he liked Heart. so...... 8) Brook: just can't be mean to Brook Jason: Even with a cold...........I don't think I breathed, but there must have been a small earthquake because my pictures of him turned out shaky - what else could it have been, right? Syesha: hahahaha David Arch.: Man - for 17 yrs. old, the boy can sing! David Cook: To each his own
here's the pictures the security guard took from a mile away of the hometown dreads: (I've cropped trying to get faces)

Trish, you were right, he LOVED you all!!! Wasn't the stalking fun??? I felt the same as sixtimemom, I could have left after the bus meeting and been content - so I am like sooo serious about the road trip! Let's talk soon!!!! ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: aggie02 on August 26, 2008, 08:19:13 PM Please don't feel like you have to read this. IT'S LONG! Pictures to come My American Idol Account: My experience all began Sunday evening as many Castro fans united at a Dreadhead BBQ in Rockwall in honor of our favorite idol. About 75 of Jason’s fans were present and ate hot dogs, potato salad, cake, and even dreadhead-shaped cookies! It was a great way to kick off our taste of the Idol tour and connect with other enthusiastic folks! Monday morning at 11:15 my mom and I arrived at the American Airlines Center where we found about 5 other bus stalkers. One by one they started trickling in and by 1:00 there were probably about 50 of us. The security guard said they would arrive soon and come out around 2:00. The buses drove by and into the underground parking lot at 1:30, and sure enough David Cook struts out at 2:00. Looking good in his red baseball cap, blue striped shirt and pointy elf boots, he was very accommodating and took his time with us all! My friend Joni was literally shaking when she took our picture…I hope it came out. I haven’t seen it! KK from Wisconsin was there and he kept yelling “Cheese, cheese, cheese” into her camera! Archie made an appearance next and poor guy, he was coughing up a storm! He was sweet as can be, cuter than pictures let on, and very grateful to the fans. I got a picture with him too. Kristy Lee was next and looked very comfy in her Victoria Secret tank, jeans, and tennis shoes. She is beautiful! And…drum roll please…..Jason walked through the door next! And yes, for those dreadheads in the know, he was donning the reappearing shirt and his manpris with his dreads pulled half-back. Seriously, he received soooo many gifts! I think he has gotten the most love out of anyone. When he got to me I was holding an “Aggie Dreadhead” sign and I said, “I’m an Aggie also.” He said, “Oh yeah. Currently?” I said that I had already graduated. And he said, “OK because today was the first day of school.” We took a thumbs-up picture, which is the Texas A&M sign. I gave him my gift…a t-shirt and book. Then he was on down the line. We were about to leave since they had press in 3 minutes, and I realized the picture we took did not turn out! Ahh! So luckily I caught him before he left and said, “Our Aggie picture didn’t turn out. And he said, “Well let’s take another!” We did. And all was good. Went home, took a shower, and we rode the DART back to the AAC for the show We got there 2 minutes before it started. Here’s my run-down: Chikeze: Great entertainer and so happy-go-lucky! He gave a shout out to Jason Yeager who was in the audience. I’m a new Chikeze fan! Ramiele: Very cheesy dance moves and her songs were boring. I do think she has a voice though and she is just so dang cute! Michael: That boy can rock it! His voice is the best in person! Love the “bluesy-ness” of it! Loved him! Kristy: Can I just say that I want her body! She is a better singer than I remember and she worked the stage! Carly: I love me some Carly. She was my favorite girl. Loved the Bring Me to Life and her entrance with the fan blowing. The Heart song suited her well. Didn’t know the last song. She has some pipes and she can rock also! Brooke: Brooke is just so comfortable behind the piano. Her voice sounded extra raspy, but she nailed each performance. 1,2,3,4 was super-fun and Yellow was the coolest cover of a song I’ve heard in a long time! Loved Brooke! First group performance: Don’t really remember it. Too short. Jason: Overall, LOVED it! Well, he is another one who sounds phenomenal live. The oohs and aahs on Over the Rainbow gave me goose bumps. He mixed it up a bit compared to the studio version. Crazy was a very cool version and Daydream was so much fun. After Crazy he talked about how he was glad to finally be home and it never felt like that day would ever get there. Then he pulled out a Texas flag, threw it over his head, and wrapped himself in ii. Yay for Texas! Syesha: I’m surprised her dress never flew up. Didn’t think her performance was very strong considering she sang some very well known pop songs. For some reason she doesn’t seem very friendly, but maybe it’s just me. But I have to say she has a good voice. Archie: His set was my favorite! His voice cracked once on Angels, and I could tell that cold was hitting hard. But he managed. After Apologize he thanked all the fans who “stood by him” and he was so out of breath! He sang Stand By Me and got the loudest standing ovation of any Idol of the night. The last Josh Groban song was beautiful and solidified my opinion that he should have won. Cook: I loved his song choices. He made a joke about magic rainbows! He also gave a shout out to old bandmates and said, “Guys, look what could have happened?” He later apologized and said that was a jerk-move. I was glad about that because I was gonna say…. He worked the crowd and won over a new fan in me. Don’t Stop the Music and the Mavid: Fun song! Wish they each had longer solos. The Mavid was hilarious although I barely saw it because I was trying to film. But it looked like some sort of country moonwalk thing. After the show my mom took a cab home and I stayed to meet the rest of the Idols. Around 11:00, Kristy, Syesha, Michael. Chikeze, Carly, Archie, and Brooke came out along with Jason Yeager. I conversed with him for a few minutes. Nice guy. Jason Castro had 150 family members so didn’t come out. Brooke said David Cook doesn’t come out after shows. And who knows where Ramiele was? Glad I stayed! Got some good pictures and I felt like my Idol experience was complete. This was the best season ever and I don’t think another one will top it! Good night!

Dallas TX tour thread from DDB continued: ======================####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: sixtimemom on August 26, 2008, 08:32:43 PM Well I have debated where to start...the picnic...the concert....and decided I'll start at the beginning and work my way through in the order I experienced it. Which means many short stories as I get the pictures done for each segment. Got to the place for the picnic a little later than planned but still before it was to start, which is good since we were bringing one of the grills. When I walked into the building, dreadheads were busy putting out tables, chairs, tablecloth, and taping posters onto the walls. None of which I got a good picture of since I decided I needed to be videotaping since my hubby was being a sweetie, as were some other husbands, and he was outside grilling the hotdogs. Dreadheads starting arriving in droves each bearing hotdogs, buns and some other type of food. Let me just say if I never see a hotdog anytime soon I won't be sad. We had MORE than enough. IF anyone went home hungry...well it was their own fault. We even had a watermelon with a picture of Jason on it and some "dreads"...it was really cute but I didn't get a picture since I was videotaping...Someone else also made cupcakes that had the face of a cat on them in "memory" of Jason not knowing a cat sang it. I have lots of pictures of the dreadheads but am not going to post them at this time due to time but they will be on the cd. This photo is of Haidee [who came from England] and Sam [who came in from Mexico] Here is boatlady with "The Quilt". We were so honored to be able to display it for all to see and get pictures in front of. Let me just say the the photo's don't do it justice....it really is even more beautiful than in the photo's. Then we got pictures of all the dreadheads who worked on the quilt AND attended the picnic.... from left..MusicCity4Jason,Tommy from Ky, Boatlady, Nana Dreadhead, Tx49er, letsdovintage Here is a picture of one of the many prayer hands stitched around the edge. This is an upclose shot of a small portion of the squares This picture is of the saying sewn on the backside of the quilt These pictures are not in the order that the night went but I wanted to group them together as best as I could. I mentioned earlier about having more than enough hotdogs...well we had more than enough of quite a bit of food. Delicious food it was!!!! And I would be remiss if I didn't post a picture of who I am affectionatly calling the "dynamic duo" cause if you could see ALL the food these ladies prepared...you'd say the same. The dynamic duo....sisters-- our very own Sandie Mae and her lovely sister Sherry. They are quite the pair and if you don't believe me then you didn't see them making their way through a very crowded AAC with Sandie being pushed in a wheelchair by some nice usher and Sherry following close behind... [but that picture will come later] Anyway...these ladies made enough cole slaw to feed 3x as many people as we had....a delicious fruit salad, TWO homemade cherry cobblers that I want the recipe for, and some homemade coney sauce.....I think these ladies need to get a cooking show or something... I want to make a special shout out to MusicCity4Jason who made these cute dreadhead cookies During the eating part of the evening I went around to each table and took pictures of anyone who was willing....again I got some great shots and many of those will be on the cd...but I did want to post these since many of you would probably like to see where Jason gets some of his good looking jeans genes. Now, I really, really, really wish I was the kind who can remember names...but alas I am not soooo you won't be getting any names out of me on this. And let me just say that Jason's Grandma wasn't much help either because she kept referring to the men by their birth order...as in this is the eighth brother, and he is the fourth brother.....THE ONLY NUMBER ORDER I remember in this conversation is that Renee is the second born... The other thing I can say is that this family is great....kind.....generous....funny....helpful....I think you get the picture. So in no particular order here are the ones I managed to get a picture of. This last picture of the Castro clan is of Jason's Grandpa...and I believe his name is Ernesto [oh, I hope that's right] Anyway I was brave enough to get in the picture too and let me just say am I ever thankful that I got to kneel down because Ernesto is not a tall man and he is very lean while I on the other hand am very tall and....well you can see for yourselves. But let me just say I was honored to get a picture with Ernesto. This next picture is a shot of all the Aggie's in attendance....WHOOP!!!! We had a cake made to celebrate Jason's 2 million and his homecoming and there were two pictures of Jason on this cake....we had lot's of fun deciding who was going to eat what piece. Well, this piece getting cut out was the only "pantz" you could see so it got cut out for the "goth girls" Watching this piece get cut out was funny since we all know about the "pantz" but imagine how I felt when one of the "birth numbered Castro's" asked me why they were cutting out that piece and I told him it was for the pantz....well he thought that was pretty funny and had a good, long and loud laugh over it.... But I do know that he took it all in fun as it was intended to be
And it's a good thing he wasn't around later when Rae_castro82 mentions that she wanted to "eat Jason's face" on the remaining picture AND take Jason home and put him in her closet.....[between me and you....I think we may need to get her to a shrink ;D] j/k Rachel....you were pretty funny and it's even more hilarious on the video...yep, the one going to Jason....
And just so everyone knows who the "bad girl" of the group in....well she is the one who brought alcohol to the picnic....rubbing alcohol that is. Thank you beautiful-chaos for making a run to get some rubbing alcohol. Why did we need it you ask? Because when we were writing with permanant markers on Jason's banner, no one thought about putting some protection between the sheet and the table. Yep...it went right through. But we got it off...a little alcohol and some sugar and voila!! good as new. And does anyone else think that beautiful_chaos looks like a 10th grade teacher?? [Sorry Shawna I just couldn't resist....]
I end this little recap with a picture of one of the funniest ladies I've ever met.....who doesn't even mop at home but will do it here because it's for Jason....isn't that right letsdovintage.... ;D Personally I just want to title this picture..."cinderella"
So much more went on this evening and everyone has their own experience but two things are for sure.....we met dreadheads and put faces to names....and we made memories. Now I'm off to work on the concert recap......

####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: glotrovato on August 26, 2008, 09:18:02 PM I loved reading all the stories and seeing all the great photos. I'm so happy that you all had a great time in Dallas for the Hometown gathering and happy that Jason enjoyed it too. That made me smile so big the whole time I was reading and viewing it all. ;D What a wonderful day that must have been. Thanks so much for sharing the experience with us all ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: fanforever on August 26, 2008, 09:25:36 PM sixtimemom that was awesome. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful experience. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: sixtimemom on August 26, 2008, 09:41:11 PM I think I will title this Chapter Two... Our day started early since I had trouble sleeping...which ya'll can relate to I'm sure. Got up and got going...and since I wanted to get some chores done before we left we ended up leaving later than I wanted because then I forgot we still had to spray our hair and decorate our windows. Once again got it on video...and will have some of the van but at the end of the story since that's when I finally took a picture. So we left 45 minutes later than expected which isn't too bad EXCEPT I still had to stop to get the pictures [for our autographs] and the balloons and in between we went through Mc D's for a bite to eat. I was getting anxious that we would be too late but my hubby kept a good pace and the Lord made a clear path.... On the way I called Carla who was meeting up with us on HWY 75 to follow us. It all worked out and we arrived around 12:45 and I was very relieved to know the buses hadn 't arrived.
Tx49er had already hung the Welcome Home Banner and let me say it was exciting as we were zooming down the access road on HWY 35 to look over and see that sign....WHOOP!!! We hung the banner so that is was right above the tunnel the buses had to drive through to take the idols to the arena.
Here is a picture of the banner
Then the wait was on. Thankfully there were trees lining the road and we were able to sit in the shade. Here is Carla, my daughter Hannah, and Trish patiently waiting for the buses to arrive
Waiting wasn't too bad because we had Rae_castro82 to keep us on our toes cause every once in awhile she'd bust out...."BUS"!!!! or something like that which would cause us all to look and it would only be a Fed Ex van or truck. Boatlady and the dreadhead guy from Ky got there and came to join us.
Here are two pictures of some of the "spirit" my family got into This is faithgirl with her blue hair and her new peace earrings we purchased the night before for this occasion
Yes, even my husband let me spray paint his head.....
While we were waiting for the buses and talking amongst ourselves we were unprepared for the loud "POP" we heard. I thought Trish was going to propel herself out of her chair and onto the ground to duck and cover but it ended up being one of the balloons that burst. A little later another balloon burst and what was so interesting is that we had 4 groups of balloons with 3 in each group, the balloons that kept popping were all in the same group.
When Trish's husband brought their chair over it had a the rest of the balloons tied to it so we were able to replace the balloons with fresh ones. Thankfully they didn't all pop before the buses arrived.
What do you do when you are sitting on the sidewalk in downtown Dallas waiting for buses....you get silly hhhmmmmmmm....I wonder WHO is sitting behind all those balloons?
After about an hour of waiting what do our wandering eye do appear....but three shiney AI buses rounding the corner.
We all jumped into action with a "little" bit of squeeling going on but by the time the buses got in front of us we were "cool" and waved. And then we watched as the buses drove down the ramp and into the tunnel. I have no idea which of the three buses Jason was in but when we asked him later if he saw the banner he said he did....and that's all that mattered.
Now I must go and work on Chapter Three...when we met Jason and the other idols.

I think he drove.....
I'm sorry I couldn't resist....
All the Castro's were invited to the picnic...we didn't know they were coming till they arrived and we were thrilled that they were brave enough to enter into "dreadhead" territory. We already knew that Jason's immediate family was going to be in Houston and wouldn't be back in time. So it was nice that Grandma and Grandpa and some of the Aunts, Uncles, and cousins were able to attend.
They are a very sweet family!!!

What a FUN AND FABULOUS DAY!!!
It started out Lady-texan picking me up and heading down to the ACC, getting there a little after 12:00. We met up with Tx49er, letsdovintage, sixtimemon, rachael, Sam, aggiemom12, and I'm probably leaving someone out because I can't remember what time of day we met! First thing we did is hang the banner in an area where Jason could see it when the buses entered underground
Then we quickly went around to a fenced area to set up dreadhead camp! We had the banner, signs, cds, and jam box playing Jason's music. The other fans along the fence line were entertained and the cameras were coming out! We passed out cd's and EVERYONE was happy to get one. Here we are holding down the fort as other Dh's filter in.
Honestly I was having a blast with everyone and lost all track of time, or maybe I was just delusional from the heat because it was HOT! Anyway, about 2:30 we see the buses coming down the street behind us!!! YEA! About 3:00ish David Cook comes out and starts on our side
Next out was Archie and Kristy. We had TX themed gift bags for the other idols. One for the guys and one for the girls. We had TX shaped corn chips and salsa that is made right here in Rockwall, a variety of seasoned nuts, trail mix, chili shaped hot tamales, bluebonnet seeds, postcards...and 10 of MusicCity4Jason's famous DH cookies! When we gave the guys bag to Archie, he was 'Awwww, thanks' I got a big hug from Kristy when I gave her the girl's.
It's sometime after 3:00, FINALLY OUT COMES JASON!! He heads straight over to our end of the fence. He goes down the line and takes his time with each fan. I'm still fumbling trying to decide which 8X10 I want him to sign, holding my camera, my sign, and his gift. He signs my TX sign and a beautiful 8X10 of him, and I get a pic ;D. I gave him a gift and said 'welcome home' and he's like 'thanks so much!' someone said, congrats on hitting 2 million!' and he said, '2 million yeah!'
Jason taking the Camarilla sign and giving us a gorgeous pose
Sam's gift to Jason a soccer jersy from mexico
more pantzzz
About this time a handler is telling Jason he has less than 10 minutes and he still has to go alll the way down the side of this fence. So after almost 4 hours of melting most of us had had our time and left to go find some AC, food and drink! No one else came out at that time.
So we all go to move cars, put up coolers...and we're going to meet back up and go out to eat. Lady_texan and I walk back again and see Brooke. She is a beautiful girl. She points at us and says, 'Are you the ones who gave us the gift' which we nodded our head, she says 'Thanks, I've already broke into those chips and salsa and I ate Jason's cookie!'
We had a blast at thingy's last resort and someone brought along flat Jason, so we got a few pics
We all meet up again in front of the concert after 6:00 and passed out more cd's to concert goers...really EVERYONE wanted a cd! Sooner was presented with some gifts and more DH pics, sorry mine didn't turn out, but some have already been posted.
The concert was great! Jason was awesome! Dallas showed Jason a lot of love. Loved the Tx flag and the bit with the cowboy hat...his set is just way too short and I can't wait till he has his own tour. I was looking around and when he was singing OTR, so many people were singing along. My 2nd favs was Brooke and Archie, loved them. I really liked Carly, MJ a Las Vegas act, DC knows how to work it but eh, Kristy should do well in country, Syesha = broadway, Ramiele great with disney, Chekzie good, but time will tell. Sorry, my concert pics are terrible

Love it! I'm glad I was there to be part of it. Sooooo sorry I couldn't stay afterwards, though.... it was a rough day... my Mom was with me and we were both gettin' cranky because of the syrup on the pantzzz and the ensuing wild goose chase all over Dallas just to find something to wear... plus I had to drive back home to Houston on time to get rest and get back to normal.... although I still don't feel "back to normal" yet!!! I'm still just tickled pink from all the amazing experiences I had!!! It was fantastic meeting you all!! Thank you so much for adopting me as a "Hometown Dread" even it if was only for an hour or two. It was sooooo cool to meet you crazydo! Thanks for chatting a bit with me about the Pantzzz Awards.... it is coming up very soon... ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: raya on August 27, 2008, 08:32:01 AM Sounds like you all had a fabulous time. I think it's adorable that a lot of his family came down for your cookout even though Jason's parents and siblings couldn't be there. Also may I add that that is one gorgeous family. Love that Grandma was referring to them by their birth order. When you come from a small family it's hard to even imagine having to do things like that. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: ELgmom on August 27, 2008, 08:37:40 AM This is for my new GG friend from London ;D ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: ELgmom on August 27, 2008, 08:41:22 AM This is for Sam, but please check out my other pictures posted earlier. I was trying to post and some of it got lost, then I saw the time and had to stop because I had a job interview. (Keeping my fingers crossed) anyway was gonna finish when I got back, but had to get all my daughters school supplies (were still playing catch-up). Then pick her up from cheer practice at 6pm, get more supplies (she has a-days & b-days). Thankfully hubby ordered a pizza for us & I picked it up on the way home (that was my one meal for the entire day!) So after dinner, I helped Shannon get all the school stuff sorted out and binders put together, but the exhaustion was catching up with me. I wanted to get all the pictures/videos uploaded, but my brain was, as Jason would say, "dead" ! And Shannon had homework so she couldn't do it for me. I'm trying to upload this morning, but having a few difficulties: I uploaded my camera, only mine are mostly videos and I have no idea how to put them on youtube. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great - it's gonna take me some time. I have the video of him coming out to us in the afternoon. My daughters camera has ALL the other pix and I'm having problems uploading them I will eventually get them up here! It may take me some time. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: aggiemom12 on August 27, 2008, 08:55:16 AM Now for the continuation of the concert post: We didn't budge at intermission - didn't want to miss Jason! Jason: We stood the WHOLE time, I video'd (kinda patchy) and Shannon took pix. I thought his voice was great (didn't even know he was sick!) SOTR was dreamy and DD was just do much fun to clap and sing along with. But my fav was CRAZY. That song just fits him to a T. I'm glad he did the 'Texas Flag' thing and I had no problems hearing him talk between songs, even with the crowd screaming!! Syesha: Shannon took a bathroom break here - she didn't really care for her, and remarked about how 'skanky' her dress was - didn't she know this is a 'PG' concert? Anyway, I think her voice is great, but there's nothing unique about her, she sounds like the rest of those pop divas to me. Archie: WOW! After meeting him and then seeing him live. I thought he did a tremendous job with Angels and Stand by Me. It's hard to believe he's only 17! Cook: That guy can work the crowd! Hello was awesome, even liked his aerosmith song too. I'm with him about the 'magic rainbows' and I wasn't crazy about how he dragged on the last song. I must admit he is better looking in person without all that 'guyliner' stuff! The finale was great too, although I would have liked to see Jason do his 'dork' dancing - ahh well! The cowboy hat was a great addition and I'm glad it got put on Jason. He said in one interview that he doesn't look good in hats, but I think the cowboy hat was perfect on him. We didn't stay around after because Shannon was tired and I knew Jason wasn't gonna be out anyway. So I'm glad I was there in the afternoon. Again I just wanna say Thanks to all you ladies that I hung out with and the new ones I met, too! I had an awesome time with y'all & hopefully we'll get to meet up again. ####################Title: Re: 25 August~ Dallas, Texas hometown dreadheads Post by: sunshine*girl on August 27, 2008, 09:19:09 AM Quote from: tx49er on August 27, 2008, 08:13:16 AM Quote from: sunshine*girl on August 27, 2008, 08:11:03 AM I JUST WANTED TELL EVERYONE HOW WONDERFUL THE TEXAS DREADHEADS ARE!!!!!!!
