I'm BACK!!! (and like a good Dreadhead i am propping up my sleepy eyelids and trying to get my pics a video uploaded in the middle of the night here!)
So I'll start with the preshow:
Got to the XL center at noon and were directed to go inside to the atrium area where there were baracades set up all around this open center. They said the Idols would come out between 1:00 and 1:30. Soon other Dreadies began arriving (Sue and Castroholic 93, and Dubliner from Castrocopia)
It wasn't until 2:45 that they opened the doors way across from us and Michael John saunters in. It's just him for a while. The ladies next to us said they stayed in the hotel the Idols were in last night and MJ was outside pulling up his shirt and doing a belly roll for them! So when he came around I asked him to do a belly roll and he said he didn't know what I was talking about, so i thought he was joking and asked again and he looked right at me and said, "seriously I don't know what you are talking about" so I felt stupid and said "I guess you shouldn't believe everything you hear" and he said "that's exactly right!". So, silly me, said, "why don't you roll your tongue then!" ( I have no nerves around the other Idols so I'm spouting off here obviously!) He said , "I can't do that....and I can't sing very well either!" Obviously joking! He must have thought I was nuts.
Kristey whipped through very briefly as she had to go do press. She was nice but all business so i just got an autograph and said a meek, "thank you" as i was scared she might cage fight me if I held her up at all.
Next came Cookie and Ramielle. Rami had a hat on and we didn't even recognize her at first...thought she was some kid that was wandering around! They were setting up the Guitar Hero thingy so Cook stopped by and played a round on that as we watched and cheered, then he started into the autographs.
AND THEN....In the door frame the sillouette of our lovely boy appeared and he casually loped into the room along with David A. You can imagine the screams!! We were directly across from him and my daughter and I were holding a HUGE 6 foot long banner that said, "Connecticut loves JASON!" and I'm sure it was the first thing he saw when he walked in, so my heart is warmed because of that! (it was by far the BIGGEST sign there) Well he starts walking directly toward us with a little smile on his face and the THRILL of the thought that he IS WALKING DIRECTLY TO US is replaced by the panic of the thought that he IS WALKING DIRECTLY TOWARDS US!! I had to quickly ditch the banner (remember it's like 6 feet long..so I think a few small children were taken out by the thing as I tried to get rid of it) then grab every electronic recording and photographic device ever invented as well as the gift and various sundries for him to sign. This task can only be accomplished by someone with 8 arms and a tripod! I was a mess.
Jason was incredibly gracious with everyone but I can't believe how rushed it all was. My dream of an intimate encouter staring into his blue eyes and chatting the afternoon away turned into me mumbling the story of our gift (a handmade ukulele) and shoving it at him in a state of near petrification! I WILL say he looked right at me as I was talking to him and believe me all the stories of those incredible blue eyes ARE TRUE! It's almost surreal when he is standing in front of you...I'm sure you all know what I mean. I did get a chance to say, "We are all so excited about your new music" and he said, "mmmm Me too!". I then said , " You make the music Jason and we'll buy it!" and then I think I must have blacked out from all my effort because i'm not sure how he responded...I think "Thanks" was what he said.
More in a bit.....

It is late and I am going to make this quick but THE CONCERT WAS AWESOME. Truthfully much better than I could ever imagine. I went only for Jason (would never have gone to an idol concert before). And Jason was everything I imagined him to be. I wasn't able to go before of after show-just saw him on stage and he was perfect. His set was well received and he had a great response from the audience. I will be dreaming of him for weeks to come. Not only totally talented but beautiful and such a peaceful aura around. ooh ooh ....over the rainbow.
And I have to say Michael Johns was great and so was David Archuleta. I was so proud of my state. I was a little bit afraid they would be a tad to laid back and quiet but they were screaming and dancing and definately enjoying the show.
Oh and one more thing-the group song at the end-ohmygosh-Jason takes Kristy and does a dance move with her at the end - oh it was awesome (never seen that before on utube or anything-it was so sexy.
Well goodnite all-I have some serious dreaming to do-lol.
Just wanted you to know Jason hit it out of the park again tonite.

So on with the adventures of a Yankee in Mr. Castro's court...
Luckily I had my friend with me that turned into a photographic jublefarkus and started yelling me and my daughter to get with Jason so she could get a pic. (I don't think I would have even asked otherwise..thank god she was there). I turned around in front of him for the pic and he puts his face right up in between my daughter and I! Real close....what a sweetie. Unfortunately the laws of nature determine that when you are 41 and lean backward over a baracade 6 double chins miraculously appear where only 2 previously occured. Again, thank goodness she was a jublefarkus, because she immediately knew I would hate the pic and made him take another with us. It's not my finest photo (we were down to 3 double chins...) but I'm trying to be a big girl about it.
Our sweet boy loped around the rest of the room making girls swoon wherever he went and leaving a trail of comments about how mellow he was. He certainly has a distinctive gait...he doesn't seem to be in a hurry much of the time...just taking things in.
As for the rest of the time, Brooke was a major highlight because she chatted with us for quite a while and looked beautiful. She said she had gone to see Neil Diamond the night before with Michael Johns and then explained what a hectic schedule they had...They had already had 2 meet and greets, then came out to us, then would have 2 more after that, then sound checks etc. The meet and greet schedule sounded a bit rough in Hartford, but maybe that's normal.
I'm really glad we went early...and although our backs were killing us from standing on that concrete for 3 hours it was WELL worth it. I think seeing the excitement from my daughter was the best part. She got to go to a Meet and Greet but I can't say anything about it because she wants to tell you all herself (her username is Roseytoes)
I personally thought Jason looked a bit tired and I almost had a vague sense we were sucking the lifeblood out of him by all the demands he was asked to meet...but that's just me...I'm sure he's used to it by now and it's comes with the territory. I'm looking forward to seeing him in an intimate setting without quite so much crazy hoopla...I think that would make him more comfortable.
I think the only thing I would do differently was to put all the photo equipment down and enjoy the fact that he was standing right in front of me and just be there and not behind a lense. It goes by so fast!!
I'll post a little about the concert later (not much new in that department)

So now about the concert....
I'll start with Jason first because once again he sounded so clear and beautiful. After so many of the performers were practically drown out by the band it's so refreshing to just here someone sing! He hit some great power notes and I could just feel a wave of people in the audience being converted to Jason-lovers right then and there...I was so proud of him! He chatted a bit and seemed in good spirits and happy (although I can never really hear what he says...something about thanking us I know...and how he had never heard "Daydream" before AI which was weird because it was the perfect song for him)
It seemed to me he was wearing a different outfit and SILVER shoes this time. (i'm not sure if he's worn the silver before but I was shocked and awed and a little blinded....) Someone will have to let me know if these are different clothes and I know you all will have no trouble figuring it out since we spend our time cataloging his wardrobe!! (me included!)
As for everyone else, it's pretty much the same as every other show review you've read. CT seemed to really love the top 4....Syesha told us she was born in CT and the crowd went ape-crap over her....are we really that easy to sway here in the Northeast? David A. I think got the most noise...and David Cook had on eye make up that rivaled Kristy Lee Cook (think they use the same make up artist?). He was also sporting a new haircut I think.
As for the finale, yes the ending pose was quite cute. KLC dipped backwards a la ballroom dancing, and Jason held her up with one arm and flung the other one in the air. Since KLC is almost 2 feet taller than him I was a little worried the laws of physics would send them both tumbling to the ground but Jason pulled it off and they were laughing. I'm always wishing for a little dork dancing from Jason in the finale, but I think the days of his entertaining us with his moves may be gone. He goes through his paces with his easy loping gait, sings beautifully and what more can I ask? Maybe he'll bust out his half leprechan in Dallas when all of his peeps will be there.
It was such a great day meeting all the Dreadheads here as well as the Head Dread. My girlfriend who came with me said, "Jason has the most creative fanbase!!" and it is so true. I think we are doing a great job supporting him on tour and I hope he is still feeling the love!
I'm adding some concert pics to my photo bucket account...once again loving my jublefarkus photographer girlfriend because she snuck her long lense into the venue and got some good shots I think. Check out the shoes!

Kiersten (or whoever else) -- If you cannot get to the busses early, at about 12.. is it pointless to even try to meet the idols? I am asking because I know now I cannot be there that early
Thanks!

Okay so i'm back and i would have posted last night except my mom didn't let me. so I was with my mom (kiersten67) so i had pretty much the same experience as she did, BUT i got to go to the meet and greet! it was soooooo amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so we were getting ready to go down to where they were and me and my friend (who won the meet and greet passes) were like freaking out. "Oh my gosh hes gonna be right there" i think we freaked out the ladies in front of us a bit. and then we got to the curtain where they were and i could see micheal Johns and David cook andthen i leand over the curtain to see Jason and he was RIGHT THERE!!!!! ahhh!!
so i took a pic of jason and then we got up to the front of the line where micheal Johns was and then he looked up at us so i said, "i liked dolly parton week" and he said "yeah that was a good week, 'you just got it right' thats what simon said that week." And then carly said what my friend wrote on her shirt and then micheal johns started talking about lefties "lefties are betta, johns, cook and archuleta"
So then the security people were yelling at us to keep moving so i didn't talk to anyone else until JASON!
so i came over to him and i said "hi" and he said "hey there hows it going?" and i have no idea how i responded to that in my fangurl-ish stupor i think i said hi again. Then i said "i love your music Jason, im so excited to meet you!" and i almost forgot to take pictures, but then i remembered why i had my cell phone and camera in my hand so i asked if i could take a picture. I was taking a pic w/ my cell phone and he started to make a funny face and then he said "just kidding' and smiled. It was sooo cute!!! and then i got a great picture with my camera. I'm sorry i cut off his chin, but all i can say is that i was shaking at the moment so its a miracle i got it as clear as i did.
and Catlin Valerie there weren't that many people meeting them so if you couldn't get there at twelve you could probly get there at 1 or 1:30 and still be able to meet them.

Hi Everyone: Hi Kiersten and friends...this is a first post at DDB, i'm usually at Castrocopia (Dubliner) and I posted this in the wrong thread, originally, so...just wanted to say:
Big thanks to Kiersten for getting the great gift for Jason...what a great idea and i think he really liked it...if it wasn't for meeting her at Castrocopia, I never would've gotten to meet Jason before the show - she and her friends graciously let me in on all their plans and I appreciate it!
Kiersten's & Roseytoes accounts of the pre-show meeting, meet n greet and show are great and spot on!
Jason was a gracious, wonderful, beautiful gentleman! I have a few more pics from meeting before the show - to all of you who have yet to go, it was surprisingly easy to meet them, and to echo others, not a ton of people there, and many of the Idols are gracious enough to spend quite a bit of time interacting with fans...
Thanks again Kiersten - again, great gift, thanks for letting me be part of it

I sure hope Jason never gets tired of smiling.
It amazes me that sometimes I think he could never be more beautiful and then he goes and surprises me with a new photo of him in his glory!

Kiersten, I love the account of the meeting and the show! Made me laugh!!!!
The video of you (I think) giving him the ukele is great---when he asked you "Really?" as you were telling him about it was so cute.
From one 40-ish gal to another, You look great in the pics!
Glad you all had such a good time.

oh my gosh you guys! what a great start to sat! i have so much housecleaning it's sickening, but had to start out with a cup of joe with my dh friends! Everyone, thanks so much for your posts! Kiersten, Overstrung gave me the best advice ever before my show which was to carry as little as is humanly possible because it is too hard to juggle signs, gifts, cameras, etc! i had already nixed making a sign (bad move, jason loves signs!) but boy it all works out when you have a great friend with you! I didn't have a friend with me, but abby(she's gonna get dreads) and her mom, who i just met that day did so much for me! i haven't read any news reports of small children with injuries in hartford, so i think you are in the clear
thanks again kiersten, roseytoes, malos and everyone! felt like i was there!

Unfortunately it's the first day of school, so I'm gonna go early to get pix/autographs, etc. Hopefully she'll be able to meet him after the concert, we'll see. Depends on the time, school the next day. BTW, I love the shoes he's wearing now. Much better than the red ones (jmo). Are they boots??

Kiersten, Thanks for posting all the pictures..you took some great ones at the concert..mine didn't come out that good. It was great meeting you and your daughter. It was also great meeting all the other dreadheads.. I met a couple of more dreadheads on our way to dinner...but I can't remember their names!!! Also met David A. father...he seemed nice. Kiersten, I was really worried that the video I took of you giving Jason the ukelule would come out very bad...since I was shaking so much!!!!!! It actually came out better than I thought it would so I'm thankful for that. I was totally afraid that I goofed it up.
Now for our concert experience...Kiersten pretty much covered the meeting of Jason...but the funny thing is that I never knew that Ramiele came over by us!!! I guess it was because Jason was there... I didn't realize it until I saw your pictures this morning. My daughter never got her to sign her shirt....she didn't even know that Ramiele was there...too funny!!!!! I had planned to ask Jason some things... for example how does he like the puzzle we made him.... Why did he pick ISTS for a song choice (I loved it but just wanted to know if it had some hidden meaning). I also wanted to tell him how much I love his original music. DID I ASK HIM ANY OF THESE THINGS...NO...I WAS SHAKING TOO MUCH... I actually think my nine year old daughter talked to him more than I did!!!! The best part of meeting him for me was when my daughter gave him a picture she drew for him. He was REALLY nice and told her how great it was. I had made two copies of the picture for us to keep and he asked her what her name was and he wrote on her copy "Thanks Sarah, JC" She was really happy that he liked it... he is so great with young kids!!!!
Another funny story is when Michael Johns came by, I didn't have anything for him to sign but a picture of Jason...he was really cute and acted like he didn't want to sign it, but he did... "BOO HOO ! Michael Johns" Anyhow I didn't have the nerve to ask any of the other idols to sign Jason's picture.
Kimberly...I passed out about 2/3 of the cards you gave me...most of them on my way to dinner and at the restaurant we ate at. I will carry the rest of them in my purse and perhaps when I'm wearing one of my 4 Jason shirts someone will ask me about him, or I may still try to go the Rhode Island show in a few weeks. People were very happy to get them!!!!!
My daughter wasn't tired after the show and really wanted to stay to meet the idols again... (I would recommend going before the show a lot less fans to deal with). Anyhow we waited for about 45 minutes before anyone came out. We did luck out and got right up front, but I let a few kids get in front of me, so I was about 3 people behind my daughter. I gave her our 2 programs that we bought before the show (didn't have them for the pre show meeting) Kristy came out first, she worked the crowd pretty fast. I can't remember the exact order they came out but I think Michael Johns was next, then Syesha...she seemed nice didn't really talk much but smiled. Sarah said she saw her Jason shirt, but still was very nice and signed her American Idol shirt and both of our programs. Michael Johns touch one of the young girl's head in front of me and she went crazy!!!! He was so funny... Carly came out and she is really pretty in person and seemed very nice. Then David A came out and his father was helping him by taking things people wanted David to sign. Two of the young girls I let in front of me were BIG David A. fans and went crazy when he came by. I was beginning to think that Jason wasn't coming out...but then I heard a lot of yelling and a guy near me said "Here comes Castro and he's on his cell phone"...too funny. Sure enough Jason was talking on his phone (perhaps to Mandy). Anyhow he put the phone away quick and was very nice to everyone... my daughter even remember to have him sign her shirt she had on (we forgot earlier in the day). My daughter said some girl near her asked Jason to sign her arm and he said "I never had anyone ask me to sign their arm before" Most of the idols touch my daughter or said something to her...she was really happy. I was too far back but I was able to get pictures. Brooke came out last and she was really nice...just like before the show. A little boy ahead of me was in love with her...someone told her that and she gave him a hug and told him that he was handsome. Another person took off their shoe and had Brooke sign it
? David Cook, Chikezie and Ramiele never came out.
Anyhow we had a great time...Jason sang great...it seemed to go by too fast... We both forgot to wave our Jason towels...but we held up our Jason signs and had our Blue glow sticks and bracelets... OH I almost forgot .... we gave Jason a bracelet in his gift bag from us and HE WORN IT DURING THE CONCERT.....THAT REALLY MADE US HAPPY!!!!

I laughed my hinny off on this! Boy do I REMEMBER oh too well that feeling. But somehow it all gets done! I think it's a Mother thing you know, we tempory grow back those extra arms we needed with the little ones.

Hi guys
my computer died in a "perfect" timing- so I'm writing on my hubbie's work computer-cant upload
photos to this one, so it will wait a few more days...
I had a great time!! Jason was so amazing- I couldn't believe he is actually standing so near...
what made my day was that he WAIVED to me....
I waived my towel like a mad woman during "please don't stop the music", he
noticed it, and waived hello with a big smile ahh, it was a great moment....

GRRRRRREAT encounters! I know what you mean about everything happening so fast! You captured some great shots of our boy and hope to be seeing some new Avi's up soon! I feel like I relived Rochester all over again (esp. with the big banner!)
Thx for sharing your magical day!

Thanks everyone for all the great comments! I had to go away for the weekend so I was dying to get back and read about some of the other DH's experiences...so great that my buddy from Castocopia dropped by to chat too! Jason brings people together!
Laxmom6, loved what you did with the picture! It looks so beautiful!
loveyoujason, so glad you had such great seats! I saw him waving at someone during the finale and when he sang...that was YOU??!! That's awesome! Maybe you can describe those shoes a little since you were closer...were they boots?
sa0154 (Sue), so great meeting you and your daughter..and your after concert meeting sounded cool...where did they come out? By the buses or inside again?
I have a couple more videos I think...one of Castroholic93 giving him the Camirilla's poster, I'll try to post those tommorrow.
Still flying high....I think I may have to drive to Bridgeport in September to try it all over again!

Kiersten - the idols came out where you were standing to get your daughter into the meet and greet earlier that day. I couldn't believe that my daughter wanted to wait since it was so late...but she begged me and of course I had to give in...figure the next day was Saturday. I haven't been able to figure out how to post my pictures yet. Yours were much better than mine...but I do have one of us with the banner. I will try to get them up this week. My daughter has soccer every night this week, so it may not be until the weekend. We almost drove up to Worester on Saturday since my daughter really wanted everyone to sign her program (only need Cook, Chikezie and Ramiele) and of course I thought perhaps I would even say something intelligent to Jason instead of looking like a total fool... I am so glad that we didn't drive up since I heard that Jason never came out before the show....BOY WHEN I THINK ABOUT HOW LUCKY WE WERE!!!! Still I wish I would have said something to him...you are right the time seem so short when he was there...Glad your friend got some good pictures. I really wish I would have taken a picture of him holding up Sarah's picture that she drew him...but of course I didn't think of it. The only reason we didn't drive up on Saturday was that my husband really wanted to go to the beach...it turned out for the best. Lying on the beach listening to Jason on my Ipod!!! Let me know if you guys are planning to go to Bridgeport...perhaps we will go. I'm thinking about the Rhode Island show in Sept., but not sure yet.

I keep seeing Camarillas signs. What does that mean?
I also read somewhere that 2 fans were beating on hotel doors that night waking up the Idols. Did you hear that? Can't believe it happened again.

Honestly. Do they really think that will get them the type of attention they want? I personally want Jason to think I am the coolest fan ever. What about you?

I met Castroholic93 who explained to me that the Camarillas are a portion of the group that was Moms Who Love Jason...they just broke off a bit and randomly generated that name...I'm not sure what it means. Castrohlic93 was a sweetheart and the sign had all the members on it so it was really cute!
I read the story of the bad hotel behavior over at Castrocopia. I'm a bit embarrassed for my state. I guess they stayed over in Hartford after the show (the next stop was only and hour away) and girls were banging on the doors and trying to listen in on their coversations. I'm not sure why the Hilton didn't put them on a secure floor. I think Carly had a word with the culprits the next morning. I feel bad for the Idols.
