Add a signature:Signatures are an area directly below your post to which text, graphics or a combination of both can be added. To add a signature to your profile: 1. Select Profile from the top menu bar. 2. Select Modify Profile from the top/center section of your profile 3. The Signature box is in the lower portion of the Personal Information section of your profile. 4. Enter the text and/or graphics you would like to have displayed at the bottom of your posts. 5. Select the grey Modify Profile button on the bottom left of your profile to save your changes. You can place a maximum of 400 text characters in your signature. Signatures graphics may not be taller than 150 pixels or wider than 600 pixels. We're not trying to limit your creativity, we just don't want to slow the forum down. When graphics are too large and there are lots and lots of them...the board will take forever to load. Please try to keep your signatures about this size: A little taller is ok. This one is 100 pixels tall, so you'd figure another half taller for the limit. And, we're more than happy to help you resize them. Thank you.

Add an avatar:
Y'all can use one of the avatars that comes built in to the proboard forum by following these steps:
1. Select 'profile' from the menu bar. 2. Select 'modify profile'. 3. Select one of the avatars from the drop down box to the right of the word 'avatar' in the Personal Information section. We've added a bunch of moving gifs of Jason and they're awesome!! 4. Click on the 'modify profile' button at the bottom left of the page. 5. The Jason avatars are hosted on photobucket. When you select a Jason avatar from our gallery, our software adds the direct link to the avatar to the 'Avatar URL' field directly below the avatar preview window in the Personal Information section. If you decide to change to another Jason avatar from our gallery, you will need to clear the link from that field before you update your profile.
Or....
You can select and use your own avatar by pasting the direct/url link from your photobucket account in the space to the right of the words 'Avatar url' in the Personal Information Section.
You will need to set the size of your avatar. The maximum size allowed by proboards forums is 100 x 100. Those spaces immediately follow the 'avatar url' option and say 'Avatar Width' and 'Avatar Height'.
You will also need to click on the 'modify profile' button on the bottom left of the page to update your profile with this new information.
**Please pm any of the Moderators or Admins of the forum if you need assistance. We're happy to help!!**

Post pictures and graphics:We recommend that you use a photo hosting site such as Photobucket for storing your pictures. www.photobucket.comWhen you want to post pictures here on the forum all you have to do is copy the IMG code from your photobucket account and paste it here in the comment box. We do require that if you are not the person who took the picture, that you credit the photog and the site/forum/place where you found the pic when posting. If you don't...it will be removed. We also require that you stay within the size limits we request on the forum. Pictures may not be bigger than 550 X 329. If they are, you will be asked to resize them. We require the size guidelines to be followed to help keep the forum loading quickly. Too many large pictures slow the forum down ALOT. That's it. Thanks!!

Set up my profile:Your profile is how you are identified here at The Castro Café, and can be as sparse or as detailed as you like. Any required fields are populated during the registration process, but there are several areas to which you can add additional information or some bling. Account Information Section:Basics like password, e-mail and display name are managed here. If you want to change an of them, simply enter the information in the appropriate boxes. Changing your display name only changes what is shown here on the board. Your user name remains the same and can be viewed by anyone who clicks on your profile. Personal Information Section:Want to trick out your profile? This is the place. Fields for your website, location and more can be found here, along with some of the fancier stuff like avatars and signatures. Definitions and how-tos are listed next to each field to help you out. Instant Messengers Section:Are you on an internet messenging, like MySpace or AIM? Enter your info here. Account Preferences Section:This is where you decide what you'd like to show (like your age or e-mail) and what you'd like to see (other members' avatars/ signatures and the skin you use). Definitions and how-tos are listed next to each field. Dates and Times Section:Set your time zone and time/date displays here. Definitions and how-tos are listed next to each field. If you have any questions, please ask in the Questions Thread, and a mod or admin will help you.

Use bookmarks:
There is an option to bookmark your posts at the bottom left of this page. When you click on that option, it automatically bookmarks the page for you.
When you go to your profile, there is a bookmark tab in the menu bar of the profile box. When you click on that tab, your bookmarked threads/posts will appear.
It's a nice way to keep track of those posts you want to find right away.

Use the PM (Private Messages) system:Sending a Private Message is easy!! You'll see a messge at the top of your screen that says: Hey............., you have ...... messages, ....are new. Everytime you have a new Personal Message/Private Message (PM), the number will show up. You can also see if you have new messages at the bottom right of the front page of the forum in the INFO Center. At the bottom right it lists: total members, newest members and personal messages. When you have new messages the number of new messages you have will show up there. All you have to do is click on either number, because they are links and they will automatically take you to your PMs. If it's a new PM, you'll see a closed yellow envelope on the left side of the subject of the message in the STATUS column. If you've read the message but not yet replied, the flap of the envelope will be white. If you've replied, there will be a little purple checkmark on the envelope. There is also an option to back up your messages which you can do once a month. There are simple instructions to follow in the menu bar of your PMs. If you would like an alert box to notify you when a new Personal Message has arrived, you need to go to Preferences at the top right of your menu bar. Once in Preferences, you can choose be alerted or have email sent to you when you receive a new message. You may also block messages from selected users. **Please ask any of the Mods for help if you need it!!** Please forward any disturbing PM's to your moderating staff. The same rules and regulations apply to PM's that apply to boards. Respect each other !

Use/Select a skin:
We've created some skins for you to choose as backgrounds and color options for the forum. There's a bunch to choose from, so try some on for size!
To select a skin, choose the skin name you prefer from the drop down menu in Account Preferences under your User Profile.
We'll be adding more as we go along, and we will be asking y'all if we can use some of your graphics in backgrounds because...your graphics ROCK!!!

Use smileys:We've got over 100 of them for you to use!! When you reply to a post, you'll see a comment box where you'll type your post. To the left of that is a box that says: Message: and below that is a drop down box that says "select smilie". While there are some in there...the really fun ones have been added by us for YOU!! All you do is click on the link that says: "View all smilies" at the bottom of that drop down box and a pop up box will appear with over 100 for you to choose from. You can use as many as you want to in each post. Just a little warning...there are so many...you may have sensory overload the first time you see them!! #giggle# All you have to do is click on the smilie and it automatically appears where your cursor is in your post. And another little warning...they're addictive!! #thhappy-1# **ETA** Please note that we've removed some smilies to help the forum pages load faster. If you see #name of smilie#, then the smilie has been removed. Thanks!!

Hi Everyone,
We'll be adding and removing smilies throughout the holidays. Please note that once we remove the smilie, only the code will show up, but we'll try to wait until long enough after the holiday that the threads/posts have sort of fallen off anyway so you won't miss them. For example, we'll proabably leave the Halloween smilies until Thanksgiving...
Here are some new ones just added for Halloween:

Hi Everyone,
The first of the holiday smilies are up!! Now, they may cause the forum to run a bit more slowly, and we'll apologize up front for that. We'll leave them in until just after the first of the year.

We've taken a few of the holiday smilies out so if you just see code where a smilie used to be...that's why. And please note that we'll be taking down all the Christmas and Hanukah smilies just after the first of the year and putting them in storage so if you're wondering where they are...that's where. Here are some New Year's smilies for ya: #thparty11# #thhappy_new_year# #thHONYnewyear034# #thparty#

Adding this information here for those having troubles changing avatars with the pre-existing drop down.
If you have an avatar already, there will be a link listed under the avatar you are using. You won't be able to change avatars to one in the drop down until you delete whatever is in the direct link text box. Remove that, and the width and height as well, then you should be able to select any avatar from the drop down and modify your profile.
