Yeah so, this is the one he sang at his Dallas homecoming that we all originally thought was "Tonight???"
I luv the way Jason finds very unusal references to use that I have never heard before...like "on your pillow case." I love that because I can see it...we all have pillow cases it's just that I can't ever remember a song with a reference to it...he is so natural and intuitive in his writing...and honest. "Watch your eyes light up..." "He was anxious, she was angry...and he had to let her know how he felt by singing a song that she was his only one...wow! And the fact that they aren't going to sleep tonight ...really...when you have made up after a misunderstanding...I don't think anyone goes to sleep...cause now your in a new place...and need to experience that new level that you have found... Godddddddddd...so utterly romantic! Jason, masterful!
Jason's falsetto is gorgeous!
Obviously...I luv this song too!!!! Cannot wait to hear anything and everthing JC writes...just watch my eyes light up!!! #sillyface-1#

When I first heard this song I fell in love with it, even though I thought he was singing "when I go to sleep tonight not we're not going to sleep tonight."
I was having a conversation with my sister about his lyrical ability,because we tend to rate artist on the lyrics they write. She said that Jason has good lyrics but he isn't a lyrical genius like some of the people we listen to. Then after listening to this song she admitted that he really made the listener feel what he is going through.
Well, with the lyrics to this song I can envision what this couple is feeling at that point in their lives. Jason is a true storyteller, and I can't wait to hear other music from him.

I liked this song straight off the bat, when I heard the recording from the homecoming event. It's a simple, has a catchy chorus and when all is said and done, I love how it ends ;D

I think it more appropriately fits. He mentions tonight in several ways...anxious tonight, angry tonight, we're not gonna sleep tonight. Idk, maybe I'm alone on this one, but I wish he would call it Tonight instead of Only One. But hey, it's his song he can name it whatever he wants and I'll listen to it all the same! #thsmiley_peace# |

I admit I also bought new pillowssssssss tooooo! Yikessss! HA! Jasonnn, Jasonnn, Jasonnn, you made me realize how important and romantic pillows and pillow cases can be! I know it's silly, yet ...now for me (in my mind) the song will always be "Tonight, On Your Pillow case!" LOL Or maybe, "Tonight, On My Baby Blue Pillow Case" or how about, "Tonight, On My Pillow Case, You're the Only One?" #thclever663# Srsly...'m with you guys...I too luv the song and will call it whatever Head Dread wishes! you're not the 'only one' haha that thinks tonight is a great song title for it... but like you said, it's his song and i love it just the same! #headphones# "My Only One" is my favorite of his original songs. I think he said at his homecoming, before he sang this song, that he hope it makes it to his first CD. #cd6# SQUEEEE!! We can only hope.

When I first heard and saw Jason perform this song at Homecoming I was mesmerised.
LOVED IT.
I could not get the song out of my head for days. Can't wait to hear the song if he puts it on his new CD!

So until I read all your posts, I totally thought he was saying "watch my eyes light up as you plead your case." (Like they had been not getting along and she was trying to explain herself, and his eyes were lighting up because he wanted her to see that he wasn't upset with her.) Ahhh...pillow case is so much more romantic! The song takes on a whole new meaning! A much better one!

I see there are threads about many of Jason's other original songs.. i'm surprise no one has started a thread for Only One yet. I'm in love with this song and it's another one that i think would make a great single; it's very radio friendly. it's just one of those songs that once you hear it, it stays in your head forever! some mornings i wake up w/ it in my head w/o even hearing it for a few days.. the song just pops in there and i can't help hum it all day long.
there's been a lot of "what is this song about?" questions but imo he leaves that wide open to whatever interpretation you'd like to give it. i think that is VERY smart of him, it can appeal to a very large audience.
not to mention i just love the "do do do doodily do" his falsetto in this song also gets me everytime.. Dude, I SO Can relate How It Gets Stuck In Your Head all the time! Like this one time in English, I HAD to listen to it hahah I was like craving the song  So I did...and got my i pod taken away...but it was SO WORTH IT!! ;D ;D ;D |

okay i'm kinda late on this thread but i've been having trouble managing ddb and jcm now that school has started!
I LOVE ONLY ONE. i think my favorite part is the "i love you" falsetto. it's so cute.
and i'm glad we have a recorded version now cause i was kind annoyed by the screams in the middle of the one from the homecoming, haha.
