I wonder if it's because Jason doesn't differentiate between his fan bases. It would be great if we could stop doing it too. Can't we just be Jason's fans and call it good?

Okay, apparently I've missed something here. But that's okay. I was just using "Dreadhead" as a general term. That hasn't become taboo has it? Please tell me that the term "Dreadhead" hasn't become taboo!!! LOL!
Anyway, he was sweet to all his fans. I don't think Jason cares what we're called. ;D I'm Dreadhead #590 and darn proud of it, and every fan of Jason should have the same feeling, whatever the heck they call themselves.

Etihwwons - for the most part, American Idol contestants are the only ones who end up with fan base names. It starts out on the official Fox site every year, and everyone gets labeled as something that only a few people had a hand in choosing.
Fans of most other musicians don't go by group names, you know?
Seriously, though - this weekend with the film festival has been great because everyone is cross-pollinating on the independent sites to share their experiences. I know we all have our places where we're most comfortable, but this weekend has made me really hopeful that we can start coming together a bit more instead of staying in our corners.

It was so wonderful to go and see jason. We sat right in the front row. Afterwards jason came out and took pictures with us and talked with us for quite some time. Then he told us he was going accross the street and ask if we were all going. And of course we all said AH YAH. So we all hung out accross the street where the movie premeir was all meeting for food and drinks. Jason spent a lot of time with us laughing talking. It was great, he was there the whole time and we were able to go up and talk to him again. He also spoke with my sons on my cell and said hello he was so nice. I'd say we were there paryting until 1:30am and then Trishcoach and I decided it was time to go get some sleep. These memories will be with me always. I met some great new friends, spend quality time with Jason and his father. His father sat with us girls just enjoying the company it was fantasic. Jeannine oh geezzzz louise that sounds like fun , I am so happy for ya! Wish we could've all gone, but then they couldn't hold all of us fans could they? hahaha ~ I am soooooo jealous! dangit! #whoop#

Cross-pollinating, I love it! Sounds like a plan to me! I just came up with that term because CastroFan is shorter than saying Jason Castro fan, plus I like making up words. #th74a73472#

Oh, I know the back story of fan group names, and Jason's. I've been around with the Dreadheads since his second Idol performance. It just seemed like there was some tension about the different groups. I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed some awful controversy about the different groups and all that stuff. Thanks for trying to explain it to me. Hehehe, I know of a couple other fan groups that have names. For instance, the Grobanites, fans of Josh Groban. I'm a Grobanite. I'm a Dreadheaded Grobanite. ;D

Nope, no controversy. Thankfully. I've seen some nasty board wars between different factions of Idol fan bases in previous years; that hasn't happened in Jason World and I'm glad. This weekend just shows why. We have more in common than we have differences.

It just seemed all tense and weird, I'm really glad to know that I was wrong, and that I haven't missed some giant controversy, and that I don't have to worry about calling myself a Dreadhead. HAHAHA!

From Richard Rushfield of LA Times: Jason Castro says 'Hallelujah' in Santa Barbara As the film's producer and co-writer Harrison Reiner told the SB Independent, "I entered the word 'Hallelujah' – I didn’t know what would come up. And suddenly I see the face of this guy with dreads and I listened to him singing the song and thought, 'Oh my god, this is amazing.' I love all these clips, thank you for bringing them here. I don't get here that often and when I do, I'm here for a while catching up! The story on how Jason's song was found and chosen is so heartwarming. He sounds so beautiful!

Well I was there and had the best time ever. There was no mention of who was with who, frankly I didn't even know there were different groups I just knew we were all fans of Jasons. I was asked where I posted and I said on Jason offical website jcm. But everyone just loved hanging out with everyone, we all met up earlier, got tickets together, and went to eat at a mexican food place. All one big happy family.
I am so looking forward to his next gig. He was so friendly and forthcoming. I just wish I wasn't such a chicken and talked to him more. Its funny you can't wait to see him and meet him and when you do you don't know what to say. Just ask for a picture and get a hug. And then watch from afar LOL. To all the girls I met there it was a pleasure to meet you and I hope we all do it again soon.

I was there It was great the movie was way too violent for my taste but it was worth it to see Jason perform one of my favorites. He was perfect. Did he come out later did anyone get to actually talk to him. I was with my husband and I kidn't want to subject him to my crazy fan mode. Hey Carmom3 I was there, did we talk. I met most everyone by there name not their signon. As I noted in posts we did hang out afterwards, I can't believe you left. I wasn't sure either but when I went back into the theater to get my roomie for the weekend there he was chatting away with the girls. And then he told us all he was going across the street to hang out with the movie producer, etc. There was well over 100 people, but Jason took the time to visit with all. Jeannine
