Jason Castro Street Team Mission Statement
The goal of the Jason Castro Street team is to actively promote Jason as a serious artist. Under the direction of Jason's management, we as his Street Team will work hard to promote Jason's music and keep his name out there to help develop and expand his fan base.
What is our role?
In order for Jason to have a successful career outside of American Idol, he will need to attract new fans by appealing to the non-AI viewing public. We have complete faith in his ability to do that through his music and we need to support him in the way he deserves. While we know how special he is, a great deal of the general public will not know this yet, and he deserves for us to come together under one large umbrella and promote him as a unique, up-and-coming singer/songwriter trying to make it in the business. The best way we can do this is to follow the vision of Jason and his management and the goals they have set for Jason’s career.
There are many things about Jason that appeal to a wide variety of people: his music, his good looks, his pants, his charisma, his faith, his dreads, his humility and his gentle nature. However, the two things that Jason’s management have identified as Jason’s selling points are his music and his charisma. Therefore, we need to keep in mind that Jason is not seeking a career as a model, or as a Christian artist or as a Rastafarian jeans spokesperson, and that we're here to support HIS goals, not our own.
We also need to remember that the actions and internet presence of an artist's fans can give potential new fans just as much of an impression of who and what the artist is as the artist himself does, especially in the early stages of his career. Therefore we need to set the tone for the impressions new fans will get of Jason. We need to be able to draw the line between enthusiasm and zealotry, between a genuine appreciation for an artist's work and a skewed belief that the artist is the be-all and end-all in today's music world, and between sharing our love of an artist's work with others versus forcing their music on others.
Our Greatest Obstacle:
The biggest obstacle that Jason faces is the very thing that brought him to our attention: AMERICAN IDOL. After 7 seasons, few contestants have sustained enduring careers in the music business. Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, the four biggest names to come off of American Idol and others like Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington and Elliott Yamin have all had to work hard to overcome the stigma of being a former American Idol contestant. They’ve had to fight for credibility and earn respect from the music-buying public and the industry itself that tend to not take artists seriously when they haven’t earned their fame the “hard way”. Since we wish for Jason to achieve the same success beyond the show, he will need to overcome this obstacle as well.
Our Greatest Strength:
YOU!!
Jason's fans are some of the most creative, energetic, fun and inspired fans in the world and we have faith that you'll be able to help attain the goals set forth by Jason and his management team, and we're very excited to be working with each of you!
