TOUR EXPERIENCE!
Wow..where to begin! I got to downtown Minneapolis around 11:30 but didn't actually get to the group until about ten to noon. We had agreed to meet at noon at the hard rock but when we all saw the barricades already set up across the street...you know we had to get there! haha so somehow we all ended up over there in the same place! Thanks to map43 for saving spots for us! 7eaglewings7 got there with the sign a little later! Gorgeous Dreadheads sign! Perfect for Jason :-) We got that all set up and then just waited. It was really nice to chit chat with the other dreadheads and finally put faces to names! David Cook came out first. He took one look at the dreadheads sign, waved and continued on his way. I was yelling for him but he just kept on waving and looking for his fans. Fair enough though...we wanted Jason! Kristy came out next and started at the other end of the line too. Archie was next..he was so cute! Much shorter than I expected...i always forget he's so young! But he was very nice! He came over to us right away and I dont think we were all ready for him! He talked to us a little and just kinda stood around like 'what am i supposed to do?'...just smiling and laughing his little huh huh chuckle :-) adorable really! He was there for a couple minutes and then goes...'hold on i'll be right back!' he went back on the bus and came back about a minute later with......JAAASSSOOONNNN!!!!!
I have a video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2boJLNTALs
So I asked him if he wanted to open his presents and he did! But then he got asked to take photos and autographs so we let him do that first! Here's a video of that too:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zYoQ9u1R_0
In this video...he looks across the street and asks what the building is. Some of the ladies told him it's First Avenue which is a venue where Prince got his start. You can hear Jason saying 'cool...I want to play there!' We all LOVED that!!!
I got my photo with Jason and I touched his dreads :-) haha I remember thinking "they're kinda prickly" haha and then 'omg i'm touching jason's dreads!' haha and then 'omg jason is touching me' ahhhh! amazing. he's so laid back and just care free!
We then gave Jason ALL of his presents! I asked him if he would open one of them for us and of course, he said he would! I handed him the smaller bag that looked like leather. He commented on it being 'a cool bag' that made me smile because I was looking for the PERFECT bag!
So he opened that...here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQZFpz7HYLY
He really seemed to love the ring! my favorite is when he's reading the poem on the front and laughing..it said "Jason, welcome to minnesooota, where the dreadheads join from south dakooota, to spend an evening charmed by your way, before you continue on to green bay" cuz ya know...that is how we talk up north here! haha it's the same poem i wrote for the puzzle pieces :-) i'm glad he liked it! it was supposed to be funny so i'm VERY happy he was laughing :-) If you listen carefully he's still saying 'Minnesooota and South Dakooota" while he's opening. My mom thought that was hilarious! haha He's just too cute!
He asked if he could open the rest of the presents later so that he could get to everyone else. He left the pile right in front of us so we knew he'd be coming back :-D!! He started to move on to others and I forgot that I had to ask him about the ring. The man who made the ring wanted to know if he could put a photo of whoever I bought the ring for on his website in a gallery of others who have his rings. So I told him I would make sure it was alright with the person I was buying it for. I didn't want to mention it was someone famous until I asked Jason if it was ok. I got Jason's attention again and explained the situation to him. He was kinda confused at first I think but then goes "yeah..i guess" so then I asked if I could take a photo of him wearing the ring and he said "sure...uh..how do I pose?" haha! I wasn't sure either but then map43 said 'put it by your face!" so he did and I got the photo!
Jason is just so down to earth...we all talked and none of us really felt star struck or nervous! He just makes you feel like you've known him for ever and he's just an old friend. It was just so amazing being around him. I loved every minute of it!
Jason continued on down the line and Brooke came out later. She was very nice, making sure she'd get to everyone and not missing anyone. I got a photo with Kristy too. Jason came back over to us soon after that. He gathered up all of his presents and thanked us again. Then he was gone :-( We all thought about waiting around a little bit longer. David Cook came back later and I was so impressed with him! He let one of the younger boys come on his side of the barricade. His name was Matt and he's 10. I think Matt must have asked David Cook if he wanted his (matt's) autograph because David had "Matt" written on his hand in sharpie really big. So then Matt was coming around to everyone who would let him and signing their knuckles. That kid had such a fun attitude! Just adorable. Matt must have gotten back over the barricades on his own and David lost him. So David came over looking for him and he looked very concerned. He made sure Matt got back to his mother and said Thank you and went right back to where he was in the line. He truly is such a great guy. One of the girls next to us was taking a photo with him and it wasn't working so she apologized and he goes 'no problem..i've got plenty of time!" She replied with "well, how about we go to lunch?" haha! David was laughing so hard after that! I don't remember what he said exactly but I'll remember that laugh!
The dreadheads decided to head over to the Hard Rock and eat. It was about 2:30 at this time and it was HOT out! So it was very nice to get inside! We had a great time chatting and talking about Jason! haha We all went our separate ways and then at 7...show time!
The show was great...Jason's set wasn't anywhere NEAR long enough! I'm working on uploading videos of SOTR and Crazy so you'll have to get the links for those later. All of them are on youtube.com/indyeka so check there! Jason sounded perfect...better than on tv and other videos..probably just because I was seeing him in person. It was amazing...I can't say much more than that. Meeting Jason doesn't help with our interest level at all...just makes it higher! haha
